I have been told that I am a good listener. This is an essential quality in a good therapist but it is by no means sufficient. Throughout my training, I have collected what I believe to be the most effective strategies and perspectives for bringing about change in a person's behaviors and beliefs that is consistent with who the individual wishes to be. Conway Counseling & Wellness Center is a group private practice of practitioners with specialties in mental health and wellness including psychiatry. Our treatment is holistic and incorporates traditional counseling with wellness services such as art therapy, yoga therapy, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, and massage. A client with anxiety could benefit from individual counseling, family therapy, yoga, and massage. Another client working to minimize an addiction could receive individual and group counseling, yoga for 12 step recovery, and hypnotherapy. By offering a range of services we can customize treatment.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by! I am a licensed psychological examiner (LPE-I) and a professional counselor (LPC). I am happy to share that I have recently founded Central Arkansas Testing & Therapy Center. You could consider me local to the central Arkansas area. I enjoy working with the community where I pretty much grew up. After graduating from UCA in 2009, I completed a master of arts degree in clinical psychology from Forest Institute in 2012. Over the last 10 years, I have worked with those experiencing depression, grief/loss, life adjustments, and LGBTQ specific issues.

Lakera has experience working with clients with various mental health disorders including but not limited to depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, grief issues, conduct disorders, adjustment disorders, substance use issues, and career/life transitions. She has worked with all populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. She is also an infant mental health therapist in the state of Arkansas. Utilizing cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapies, she believes that clients can be empowered to use all life experiences to create a brighter, better reality and live to their fullest potential.

For many years my clients have primarily been individuals, groups, and families coming out of abusive and sometimes violent relationships and addiction. Although that was the original primary focus, most of them also struggled with other accompanying factors like depression, anxiety and other serious mental health diagnoses. My clinical focus has recently shifted to more of a community-based population. I have found this work incredibly rewarding. I enjoy working with additional needs such as grief, prenatal, postpartum depression, and abandonment trauma to name a few.

Sometimes we don't see pain on the outside. Sometimes we silently suffer alone and it does impact our life in many ways- job, friends, family, romance, our self image/esteem, confidence. Sometimes we are haunted by the past. Sometimes there is depression/anxiety/panic. These are my kinds of clients. I see you and there is hope! Life often throws curve balls at us, leaving us without direction, hurting, and unsure of ourselves as well as the world around us. In that time, we find ourselves behaving and feeling ways that are not true reflections of who we are. Things from our past can really haunt us if we don't process them. My ideal client wants to process what they have been through and make changes for their future selves.

So many of us have been through traumatic experiences that have left us feeling hopeless, overwhelmed, and falling into unhealthy patterns. We experience an inner critical voice that tells us we are not good enough, ugly, or worthless. I love to provide a safe and comforting space for clients to process their difficult life experiences, break through cycles of shame, and begin recovery from addictive behaviors, including with eating and embodiment issues. Together, we focus on healing, reclaiming health, practicing intuitive self-care, celebrating your authentic self and beauty, and cultivating self-love.

I’m semi-retired, but accepting clients on the Alma website. I specialize in trauma and addiction and am LGBTQ-friendly. Once old wounds are identified, we can work on challenging old coping skills and beliefs that impede growth and personal happiness. I’ve been working in the field for the past twenty years with a variety of issues including chronic and persistent mental illness, anxiety, depression, addiction, family of origin issues, trauma, behavioral issues, sexual orientation, and anger.

I believe that no two people are alike and that your therapeutic experience depicts your nature and nurture that makes up whom you are today.
