The desire to be connected to others is innate, and yet we sometimes find ourselves alone, hopeless, sad, scared, and angry. I believe that being connected to ourselves and others is part of the human experience, and recovery from symptoms that interrupt our ability to live our lives to the fullest is possible. I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals who struggle with issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma and addiction. I believe change and insight are possible, and freedom from pain and suffering is attainable.

Welcome! As we work together I will honor your inherent healthiness. If you are experiencing PTSD, trauma, grief, loss, divorce, depression, anxiety, anger, denial, co-dependency, addictions, or need self-care and empowerment, you have choices. I can help you to be brave enough to weather personal storms, tender enough to be vulnerable, resilient enough to succeed, and confident enough to trust your own wisdom. Together we'll take a non-judgmental and honest look at "how and why" you do what you do, in order to inspire positive change. I invite you to explore the possibilities. Individuals and couples. (No insurance for couples)

You deserve to be having the best days! You know that something has to shift, but not exactly sure what that is or how things will change. Your emotions might be inhibiting you from feeling empowered, confident and clear in your decision making. I would be honored to support you in gaining perspective through a style that is direct, down to earth and focuses on a collaborative approach. I believe that life is a series of transitions, some more challenging than others, and that there is no reason to proceed solo.

Not accepting new clients
**I am not currently accepting new clients.** --- I can help you drop old habits and develop new ones. I'm passionate about working with people who want to develop their full potential and leave behind the obstacles that have been holding them back. I use neurofeedback with talk therapy and brainspotting for the most efficient and comprehensive approach to personal transformation. My ideal therapy client is someone struggling to improve their self or relationship, and needing a way to facilitate this change and process thoughts and emotions.

Drug Abuse Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
