About
Are you looking for a strength-based approach to life? Are you generally an internally peaceful and pleasant person but your unwanted mood or thoughts are more powerful? Do stress, anxiety, and depression make you someone that you do not recognize? Are you mad, sad, or quiet without a true reason that you can express? Are you isolating yourself from activities that you used to enjoy or would consider pleasurable? Are you tired of people looking at who you are from the outside and think that you have everything that you need, but they are missing your internal pain?
If you are ready to be free from the power of an anxious or depressed mood I look forward to guiding, you to success. Cognitive Behavioral Theory and Mindfulness will supply you with the tools to crush the painful stagnation associated with your depression, anxiety, doubt, and insecurity.
As a Virginia Tech Counselor Education Ph.D. and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology professor, I am dedicated to early identification and management of the symptoms of depression and anxiety. There is no reason to fear a diagnosis of anxiety or depression that can be successfully treated. The only problem would be to suffer alone.

Dr. Paula Rainer, LLC's Groups
Parents of Children with Depression
This group will give parents the tools to recognize the spectrum of the mild to serious symptoms of depression in their child. Parents will learn how to recognize their child's triggers for depression. They will be equipped with the strategies for managing and deescalating depressive episodes. As a parent you will also be able to identify when your child requires outside medical assistance. Parents will leave the session feeling more empowered to support their child's symptoms of depression. This group is conducted by Dr. Paula Rainer contributing author to publications for the Association of Specialist in Group Work.
