Psychotherapy means “soul healing.” Cultural malaise is all around us, and it is hard to be healthier than our environment. Yet I delight in helping people do just that: it is possible to metabolize our struggles, even our trauma, and come out better and stronger, wiser and kinder. And our places of deepest pain can, over time, not only heal but become medicine for others.
My approach is holistic and gentle, yet I also give direct feedback about recurring patterns that may be seeking healing and change. I love working with individuals and couples who are ready to do deep soul work and want to live with greater wholeness and joy.
Spending 20+ years as a professional pianist introduced me to the art of deep listening. I went back to graduate school for Religion, Psychology, & Culture and became passionate about helping people experience healing of relationships, body, mind, spirit, and community. I also developed an accidental specialty in working with HSPs (and am one myself!).
My practice is located in a house shared with several other therapists in the Wedgewood-Houston area of Nashville, just off 8th Ave., close to Belmont and I-65. Intro to HSP Group -- Sept. 16, 23, 30, & Oct. 7
HSPs (Highly Sensitive Persons) are 15-20% of the population who feel keenly, process deeply, pick up on subtleties, and often have a heightened level of awareness and empathy beyond what is culturally considered "normal." In this 4-week Intro to HSP Group, Dr. Laura will begin each session with a brief talk on an aspect of Highly Sensitive Personality, then the rest will be open for group discussion. Bring your questions and curiosity, as well as any struggles you are experiencing and would like to talk through in a supportive, confidential setting. Please email if interested in joining.
