Therapy is a place for building confidence, motivation and belonging. In order to help you, we must engage the amazing complexity of you at the multiple levels of your life. No level is privileged. A person is always more than their thoughts and behaviors. A person is always more than their history. Not only do I work to “change” thoughts and behaviors, I work with the whole person-in-their-experiential-context. A good therapist doesn’t just “do therapy”. They sense and do justice to the person in their context. I am a radically different therapist with each person I see. This is because I believe that you are the expert on you.
I cultivate healthy dependence through self-in-relation-empowerment and self-in-relation-advocacy. It is hard to reach out and harder still to teach people how to treat us. I work with and teach you about the principles that govern our nervous system to empower you to understand yourself across multiple contexts and facilitate the change you desire.
We will learn about the structures – whether personal or familial or societal – that organize your experience and other important aspects of treatment such as mood disorders, identity issues, motivation, or addiction. I will work with you in your specific context and help you make meaning while creating the change you desire in your life.
