I believe that therapy can develop non-judgmental awareness of what we face in the present, of thoughts and feelings that are based on conditioned reactions from our past, and of the ability to then cultivate the inner freedom that allows us to move into a future grounded in experience and directed at a positive and compassionate understanding of ourselves and of others. Developing the ability to be aware is a practice that each client learns and practices according to their needs, interests, and learning styles. There is no ideal client, there is only the commitment to practice awareness and find freedom from the past.
My orientation comes from Buddhist psychology and its goal of ending suffering. My goal is to help clients live in the present, emphasizing compassion towards self and others, and developing an authentic sense of identity. My work focuses on anxiety, trauma, medical issues, pain, and introducing spirituality into practice.
Using meditative practices along with other approaches to shorter term therapy, I collaborate with my clients to develop trust, authenticity, and a forward looking approach to life that can be liberating, particularly from past trauma or other negative experiences. The goal is to be able to experience life as it happens, with ease and compassion.

I don't use any approach that I haven't tried myself. Moreover, I maintain a daily mindful meditation practice which informs my therapy.

I emphasize the use of Mindfulness practice to focus attention on what is happening in the moment, without judgment. The course of therapy builds on this so that the client lives in the moment, while aware that the emotions and thoughts that are arising can be observed, but not hinder the client's experience. Treatment includes mindfulness training, hypnosis and EMDR.

My primary treatment mode is mindfulness practice - using the breath as a grounding to firmly orient the client in the present without judgement, with clarify, and with compassion for themselves and others. I use EMDR and hypnosis to promote healing from old wounds and to explore new possibilities for growth.
