Four words represent the heart of my counseling focus while working with adults and couples for over 25 years. These words are: Hurts, Habits, Home and Heaven. 1) HURTS are past or recent wounds that a person needs help and healing from; 2) HABITS are repetitive and unwanted emotions, thoughts and activities that control a person; 3) HOME represents our most important relationships between partners, spouses and friends, but where confusion, conflict and disconnection can occur; and 4) HEAVEN represents the importance of one's faith in God for finding love, direction, and assurance that we matter in this life and beyond.
Friends, no one can be prepared for every change or challenge in life. While many are soon resolved, some may be too new, too big, complex or too entrenched to manage alone. In these times one may need another resource - like a counselor- who is trained and experienced to helping during this challenging time.
