I recognize there are times we can get focused on regrets of the past. Or we're consumed with the chaos of anticipating the future. We can be overwhelmed by anxiety, sadness, or experiences of loss and grief...sometimes leading to isolation, being "stuck", or unhealthy relationships with substances, behaviors, or people. What drives me as a therapist is when I see a client taking action that makes their mind an ally, rather than a detractor, in their life.
We'll explore how uncomfortable moments can provide key places to lean into rather than avoid, as they are red flags of what we might attend to. This practice-which is simple, but not easy- can help process difficult emotions, create positive patterns, and renew a sense of purpose in life.
My past roles have been as Clinical Coordinator at the University of Southern Maine Counseling Services and at Day One's Street Program counseling services. I have facilitated many workshops on mental health and substance abuse treatment approaches, as well for families of those approaching or involved in addiction recovery.
