About
Hi there! We are Doug & Nana, husband and wife, both licensed social workers and therapists. We see couples together. We utilize our professional training, as well as what we have learned from our own relationship challenges and successes. We do not sit back and listen to couples fight. We actively engage and coach. We work best with couples in which both partners are actively seeking change, and we work on (and measure) specific goals of counseling. Although we have attended level 1 and 2 of Gottman Method training, we only use aspects of their approach, because in our experience it seems each couple needs something different.
Our approach is active, not passive. We educate couples about tools and concepts, and challenge couples to stick to their goals. We try to help couples transition from one of blaming and victimhood to one of freedom and empowerment. We help couples compromise and create a life that they are both excited to live.
We are currently only practicing remotely, and we are not taking insurance. If you'd like to learn more, we are willing to have a free consultation (in fact, we'd prefer that we do). We also each practice individually (Nana - psychotherapy, Doug - short-term counseling). We look forward to hearing from you!
