Past traumatic experiences often leave an imprint on the mind/body in such a way that present-day stressors can easily trigger a recurrent emotional/physical stress response.
Each environmental trigger validates an automatic physical stress response because the central nervous system is pre-set/pre-wired to be ON ALERT. Stress can be cumulative and create illness or a disease process over time (i.e., fibromyalgia, CFIDS, autoimmune response, etc.).
Specializing in healing from past traumatic experiences, I collaborate with clients using holistic, cognitive behavioral strategies, and other mind/body therapies.
Additionally, nutrition, an exercise and relaxation plan, and family therapy is often part of an individualized treatment plan.
Other skill-building tools used to identify steps on the pathway to healing/grieving past traumatic experiences include:
grief and trauma resolution techniques, assertivness training, conflict resolution, decision-making skills, boundary setting, relaxation techniques, and emotion regulation.
