Dominique Wilcox, LMSW, RPT. My background includes experience as a child therapist in behavioral/mental health services, with children ages 5 and up, teens, and young adults. My therapeutic methods include Play Therapy, CBT, Solution-focused therapy, and Mindfulness with positive affirmations. Engaging in therapy services will encourage improvement in a person’s life as they challenge their mental health while learning coping skills and strategies. I am certified in play therapy, which allows me to effectively work with children/teens, providing a fun, safe space where they feel no judgment.
As a parent of a child who is diagnosed with ADHD, I have personal and professional experience. Parenting ADHD can be stressful for caregivers; you could feel like a failure and overwhelmed. Therapy assists with learning how to manage symptoms of ADHD: being easily distracted, needing multiple reminders, trouble with being organized, and hyperactivity.
The right combination of treatment and strategies is needed to create a productive life for children/ teens. They will benefit from behavior guidance to learn self-regulation skills and to seek environmental modifications to improve focus.
