Having worked in the mental health profession for over 25 years, I am a licensed mental health professional and owner of the Hicks Group Wellness Center. My primary work is with individuals suffering from domestic violence, traumas, anxiety, and depression. Thesis entitled "A Prevention Intervention for Re-offending Adolescents Who Are Diagnosed With Mental Health And Substance Abuse Disorders".

I can provide individual and family therapy for you, if you find yourself having difficulties in your life, whether you are an adolescent or adult. I have a speciality in eating disorders and trauma. I am trained and certified in EMDR and hypnosis. I have received my CEDS, certified eating disorder therapist. I am also an approved supervisor. My training has been in a hospital and private practice setting.

I believe there is no single approach that can treat each client in all situations. We will work together to create goals to help achieve your individual/family needs. Some modalities used may include supportive counseling, solution focused counseling, or other evidence based modalities (Trauma Focused CBT). These services may be provided in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. I hope to encourage the use of positive problem solving skills, healthy coping skills, and self-expression skills. I view good emotional and psychological health as boiling down to one word: perspective. With good perspective, we feel better; when we "lose perspective," we feel less well. With good perspective, we discover that our vulnerability and insecurities don't make us (or others) "weak." We accept that feeling insecure, confused, lost, scared and uncertain makes us human, not deficient. I have been working with the public school system of New Jersey for six years, offering guidance to students in their social and emotional development.
