Today is your day! This is your time to make the changes you've been putting off! You've been fighting...wrestling. It's time to take control. Whether you're dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma-related anxiety or grief, low self-esteem, or domestic violence/abuse or relationship issues, now is the time to apply pressure to those areas of your life that are keeping you from achieving success and fulfillment.

Some areas of focus for me include but are not limited to trauma (including complex), domestic and sexual violence, relationship challenges, LGBTQIA+, alternative lifestyles such as non-monogamy/polyamory and kink, sexuality, sexual orientation/identity, anxiety, depression, stress management, grief, significant life changes, and mood disorders.
My goal as your counselor is to help form and maintain a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. It is important for my client's to know that their story matters and that I am here alongside them to help them heal and grow. I do this by using a number of evidenced based approaches such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, MI, RCT, and person-centered therapy. I also love to incorporate art into my therapy sessions. Lets get creative!

In addition to therapy, we also provide substance use treatment, DUI evaluations, ADHD and Autism evaluations, domestic violence evaluations and more.
Congratulations on taking that first step towards building the life you want! Whether it is depression, anxiety, ADHD, addiction or any number of the countless things that keep us from living our best lives, searching for someone to help partner with you on that journey towards healing is an important first step. I know it can be overwhelming to find a provider; there are so many choices, and if you have never been in counseling before, you don't know what to expect, what to ask, or even what to look for to help you find that person that can help you become "you" again. Relax...you're here...and that's an awesome start!

When a person is faced with life stressors, it can be hard to know how to "act" or "present themselves." An ideal client is one who recognizes that something is not right and takes the first step in seeking help. That is the most difficult part. They recognize the way they are feeling is not how they want or need to feel. It takes courage to ask for help and I understand the process of finding a therapist can be overwhelming. I am proud of you for taking the first steps towards a positive change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you through your journey.

Just because you carry it well doesn’t mean it’s not heavy. If you are strong for others all the time, chances are you don’t have time to care for yourself. Let me provide you with a space and time where you are the priority. Where there are no risks of disappointing or upsetting me. Think of me like a conflict-free crash test dummy for your emotions. I’m not scared to sit with you in whatever it is that makes up your perfect storm. My purpose is to have your back and help you gain new perspective as you move into the future, not to judge how you’ve chosen to survive in the past.

My life-long passion is to help children, adolescents, and families heal. I work with children with a range of presenting concerns including attachment, behavior, mood and anxiety. I provide evidence-based treatments within a caring, trusting therapeutic relationship. I enjoy working with children that are considered "complex" including those who have had early developmental trauma and those who have behavioral difficulties that cause significant challenges. Helping parents to become more attuned and connected allows for healing across generations.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
