Even though our culture has developed the attitude that "happiness" should be our default state, life is often hard. We all face difficult transitions, experience scary situations, and often feel at the mercy of forces beyond our control. We easily can have trouble dealing with change as well as emotions like shame, guilt, anxiety, fear, anger, and grief. Faith crises and transitions are especially difficult because religion give us our identity and sense of what it means to be human, our community, our relationship to power and authority, how we can and cannot use our bodies—the very nature of reality.
Using Acceptance & Commitment therapy, Superhero therapy, and DBT skills, I offer *low-risk* clients a compassionate space to identify their strengths, explore solutions to their problems, learn and practice new coping skills, and set and achieve goals. A Ph.D. in Religious Studies and a Master of Social Work allow me to specialize in religious trauma.
Regardless of your reasons for seeking therapy, it is easy to isolate yourself when stuck in depression or paralyzed by anxiety, and it can be hard to reach out for support. Let me help you move forward toward what matters most to you—toward a life you feel is worth living. Call or email me to get started. (Under the direct supervision of Tandie Myles, LCSW)
