We live in a culture that tells us the type of person we need to be. Sometimes these messages start at home as children, but often continue as we grow up. It can be hard to clear away what we've been told and internalized from our own true nature and who we are destined to become. Parts of us have been left behind; authentic selves concealed but not forgotten. I help people to find their voice and claim it as their own. Some for the first time and others in a renewed manner, after they have lost their way.
I work at the intersectionality of gender and sexuality, as this informs a lot of my work. Who we are as people, our preferences, desires, needs, and wants are unique to each person. Unpacking and teasing apart the cultural and familial messages we got is crucial in this endeavor.
What it means to be a man or a woman, how we are supposed to act, and who and how we are supposed to love is a difficult task to do alone. I help children, adolescents, and adults by creating a safe space where these questions can be explored.
