Both personally and professionally, I am a strong believer in the healing power of relationships. However, sometimes even our most important relationships falter, causing pain, confusion and turmoil. If you currently find yourself struggling with a relationship-related issue (spouse, romantic partner, parent/sibling, friend, boss/co-worker) I am here to listen and to help you achieve greater clarity and confidence moving forward. At the individual level, I also offer support for more personal concerns, including anxiety and depression, as well as difficult life circumstances such as processing a recent loss, divorce or past trauma.

We are hurt in relationships with ourselves and others. We are also healed in relationships. Are your struggling with depression, substance or behavioral addiction, or the negative affects of another's addiction? Is your marriage difficult? Are you grieving a death, separation or divorce? Is a recent medical diagnosis or chronic illness more than you can manage? Through a relationship with a supportive counselor, life's challenges can become opportunities for psychological and spiritual growth. I would be privileged to be your guide and companion along the path to a fuller, more joyful relationship with yourself and others.

I am interested in working with women on issues such as single parenting, divorce, returning to the work place and work-life balance.
Seeking therapy means you have to trust a new and unfamiliar person and process. My job is to create a strong therapeutic relationship that allows you to explore the circumstances and relationships that are interfering with your life in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. In my practice, I help my clients gain personal insight and individual strength to help them address issues with depression, stress and anxiety, parenting, life transitions and interpersonal relationships. I have a certificate from Bryn Mawr College in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, and I especially enjoy working with preteens, teens, and young adults.

As a professional who has worked directly with individuals and couples of various challenges from separation and divorce, stress, and anxiety, I also understand the importance of extending services within a family unit including young children, and teens on and off the spectrum. Over the past eight years I have worked with individuals and families adjusting to some of the most drastic changes imaginable.

I have experience working with issues of grief, adolescent development, life transitions (divorce, career issues, family transition), anxiety and depression, couples work, and ADHD.
What are you looking for and what are you struggling to find? Sometimes that search centers around finding the right tools for a given situation. Other times, the search might be to uncover who we are or who we are becoming. Whatever the case is, something has brought you to this place, at this moment. I’m curious to hear more about where you are right now.

Most of my work focuses on depression and anxiety, with specializations in eating disorders, maternal mental health, life transitions, divorce, and parenting support.
Welcome to Thrive Therapy & Wellness. My name is Suzanne Muller, and I would be honored to work with you! Often in life we find ourselves stuck, not living the life we had imagined, and/or feeling terribly imbalanced. If you are feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, or that you barely recognize yourself, you are not alone. I focus on building a stronger sense of self through acceptance, self forgiveness, and letting go of what is holding you back. Once you are able to liberate yourself from these obstacles, you can build and embrace a better and brighter future. (PA and DE licensed)

The idea of counseling can be scary. I use humor to normalize symptoms of stress and provide a comfortable environment to let go and take new supported risks. My clients come here to gain a sense of what patterns are keeping them stuck and to face what has been avoided so they can achieve greater satisfaction and fulfillment in their lives. My objective is to help bring awareness to the answers that lie within you, learn stress reduction techniques, and guide you to take supported risks that can change your life.

Do you suffer from physical or emotional pain? Have you been told, "Learn to live with it"? I have shown thousands of clients how to live without it. Experienced in psychotherapy, NLP and hypnotherapy, I mainly use "energy psychology" techniques that balance body energy and eliminate emotional and even physical pain. I am very skilled with phobias (often resolved in one session), stress and anxiety, traumatic memories and PTSD. Grief and mild/moderate depression are gently resolved. And many of my chronic pain patients (back pain, fibromyalgia, etc.) have reduced or eliminated their pain medications.

Divorce Therapists

How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?

Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?

There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?

When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
