My goals as a therapist are to help you achieve symptom relief from the difficulties that brought you to therapy, and maintain these changes to create a life that is more meaningful and fulfilling. With nearly 25 years experience and exceptional credentials, my approach is warm, compassionate, practical, and collaborative. While I believe that it can be useful to understand our history, evidence-based treatments guide my interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, the trauma resiliency model, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness and stress management skills.

We all live in a world of stories...The meaning we attach to these stories become a template of how we feel about ourselves. The emotional outcome of this thinking can be depression, anxiety and at other times, happiness. What is the meaning of these stories? I believe facts bring us to knowledge, but stories lead us to wisdom. Therapy is a creative and supportive process of getting to know your true self, of re-authoring the old story and writing a new one. Discover who you are... apart from the problem, and find an unexpected path to build inner strength and resources.

You've been wanting to focus on yourself and your growth. You might even be wanting to strengthen your relationships. Maybe you've thought about sharing your challenges with others but don't believe they are important enough, or don't want to burden others with your problems. Maybe you've actually thought about therapy but don't know where to start.

Are you where you want to be in life?
Feeling depressed, anxious, burnt-out, confused, overwhelmed or un-supported regarding your career, love life, family life or financial situation?
Making a life or career transition and are unsure how to move forward or how to get exactly what you want?
Feeling like you need an objective outsider to share with - who could help to guide or be a gauge for what's going on in your life?
Or maybe you just want to explore how you could achieve more in life.
Then, you may be the perfect candidate for therapy.

Relationship issues, Co-Dependency, Emotional Eating, Trauma and Faith are my areas of clinical experience. Many of us have learned from important early relationships to mute or dismiss our needs, wants and emotions. We might then look to take care of those needs and wants by people pleasing, being over focused on food or weight, or other behaviors that eventually feel out of control. Trauma and or neglect can be at the core of these behaviors. Some people of faith experience difficult challenges in life and have a hard time integrating their faith with their lived experience.

Many of us haven't had much experience with the kind of truly supportive relationships that make healing possible. A good therapeutic relationship - one that allows us to be fully ourselves while recognizing our unique potential - creates the optimal conditions for healing. I provide a place where you can feel safe to explore your most difficult feelings, to work through grief and loss, heal childhood wounds, relieve depression and anxiety, improve communication, increase self-esteem and develop more satisfying relationships. I work with individuals, couples, and groups, and I'm available for both in-person and virtual sessions.

“Why am I the way I am?” You have found yourself asking this question more times than you’ve answered it. Sometimes finding yourself feels like an impossible task. Perhaps it’s become second nature to place your needs last. Your inner voice, which has been placed on the backburner one too many times, is calling out to you for attention. Welcome to the first of many steps in creating change. This path in self-exploration may bring feelings of excitement, hopefulness, fear, and uncertainty. Wherever you are in your journey, I am here to listen and support you.

My journey into the mental health field was ignited by witnessing the struggles faced by my loved ones, which were exacerbated due to a lack of adequate support. I strive to be that missing support and foster an environment where individuals can leverage their strengths and tap into newly developed coping skills. I've also been motivated by the noticeable absence of Armenian-speaking clinicians. These experiences have granted me valuable insights into supporting individuals grappling with significant life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and various other challenges. I aim to have a meaningful impact on diverse communities.

WHAT WILL THERAPY BE LIKE? I strive to create an environment that is confidential and nonjudgmental. The therapy hour is a time and place where you can feel safe enough to do important work. I also believe that therapy can be enjoyable and life-affirming, even at times a FUN experience. WHAT CAN THERAPY ACCOMPLISH FOR ME? Engaging in psychotherapy provides the opportunity for a new start, an escape from ruminating, from feelings of helplessness and indecision. I will work with you to see and experience your situation in a new way - and take action to make important changes.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
