Hi and welcome! Therapy is a powerful and life changing force and the therapist client fit is the most important element in making therapy worthwhile and effective. Most clients who seek therapy with me are working through relationship issues (either old wounds from family of origin or current relationship issues), loneliness, parenting adjustments or struggles, loss, divorce or separation, connection challenges or relationship betrayal.

Loss, divorce or other relationship changes, challenges to our physical health, together with the natural process of aging, can make us feel that we have little control over our lives.
Do you feel that you are struggling to find happiness in your life? Do you find yourself constantly dealing with dilemmas around your physical health, your relationships, loss, loneliness, or transitions in your life? You are not alone in dealing with these issues. I believe that we all find ourselves struggling with life's dilemmas as we grow and develop as individuals, regardless of age. Many events and circumstances we experience may result in feelings of sadness, anxiety, distance from others, or a loss of meaning in our lives. I am here to help you find hope, make changes, and rediscover your life's energy and purpose again.

I utilize an integrated and holistic approach to therapy that is grounded in relational-cultural theory (RCT). I aim to understand and address the ways in which a client’s presenting concerns manifest in their mind, body, and spirit. I believe that clients come to me already holding the answers and guidance they are looking for and it is my role to help empower them to connect with their inner knowing. I encourage clients to increase mindfulness and emotional awareness to help them become an intentional creator of their experiences. I aim to help clients let go of shame and develop self-compassion.

I naturally work from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective and feel that collaboration and rapport are key components in the therapeutic process. My goal is to help clients heal and flourish in their lives. Through deeper emotional exploration, things that seem to keep getting us "stuck" can be examined and worked through, resulting in true healing and change. In our sessions, I work with my clients in exploring thoughts, emotions, experiences, relationships, behaviors, etc. and together we work towards a healthier and happier life.

Welcome! I am passionate about helping midlife women overcome emotional eating and make pethrough the life challenges that are unique to us. MyMy clients describe me as genuine, curious, and kind, but direct and even gently challenging when it’s helpful. They say that after some time in therapy with me, they can hear my voice during difficult times, reminding them of what we have talked about. Sometimes therapy can be intense, so I try to lighten it up when I can.

Making the decision to begin counseling can be difficult and finding a therapist that is a good match can be equally overwhelming. I work to create a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment to make it easier to start the process. Everyone enters therapy at a different place, and I work to meet clients where they are. My approach is primarily relational because the quality of the client-therapist relationship can serve as the catalyst for change.

We all go through life struggles, which we are not able to handle on our own. Therapy is a very helpful tool to get the help and guidance that you, your family or typical support network may not be able to provide. My job as a psychotherapist is to work collaboratively with clients to help you heal and grow. My approach is gentle and direct, and while I have confidence in my knowledge about therapy, I treat every client as an individual and learn from every person who works with me. My clients would say they trust my intuition, pay close attention, tell them the truth and empower them with ongoing effective strategies for healing.

I can help you get happy and become extraordinary. Most of my clients have what I describe as a "fulfillment deficit". They are often seen as people who have it all, but they just don't feel happy. My clients are unique individuals with unique needs. They are HNW/UHNW, professionals, entertainers, actors, therapists, professional athletes, politicians, power couples, and others who require an extra level of privacy, confidentiality, and discretion. They find themselves surrounded by "yes people", so the directness and honesty of our work together is a refreshing change.

People come to see me for lots of different reasons. Some are struggling with anxiety, depression, or a crippling addiction. Some are having difficulty in their relationships with others. Some are going through a difficult time - a mid life crisis, the loss of a job or a loved one, or a frightening medical diagnosis. Most are tired of repeating unconscious patterns that were learned long ago that continue to be played out in spite of their best efforts. All are seeking a happier, healthier life and a way to achieve that. Psychotherapy is the best place to invest in oneself and work toward these goals.

I believe that all individuals, couples and families are capable of working towards positive change. I respect and appreciate the unique nature of my clients' circumstances in life. As a therapist, I bring a very creative approach into the sessions. In the first session with clients, a unique plan of development begins to emerge.

Divorce Therapists

How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?

Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?

There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?

When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
