Sometimes in life we find ourselves dealing with issues we never imagined would happen. We struggle in relationships or we struggle at work. Sometimes we don't know why we're feeling the way we are- and that's ok too. Throughout life we face a variety of struggles psychotherapy helps you know you're not alone. My goal is to help you find hope, your direction to authenticity and healing beyond the struggles you're holding.

Agape Health Initiatives was created to help people achieve enlighment. An individual, regardless of one's past, present, and future, is deserving of the peace which comes from loving oneself and being able to show love to others. Emotional distress in the form of trauma, emotional disturbance, depression, anxiety, hearing voices or seeing things, negative self talk and distorted thinking steals personal peace and stops an individual from being able to obtain the peace which comes from loving oneself and others. My goal is to provide the tools and foster pathways for my clients to create personal peace and fulfillment.

I enjoy working with folks who feel overwhelmed and need help maintaining focus and help finding their way to rest. My focus is working with anxiety and traumas and helping clients navigate transitions in many areas in many forms and sizes. I use an approach that looks at how we exist in the world and examines suffering from a personal perspective, but also from a social justice, feminist and transformative justice perspective. I believe this is your time, space and story to tell. I work with plurals and systems and am often referred to clients from therapists who do not feel comfortable working with system folx.

I would love to work with you on the things that hold you back. Reclamation of personal power will be the basis of our work together. We will explore relational systems such as justice and culture, and the role of the self within these systems. By re-imagining yourself as a cherished and sacred part of the whole, you can heal the wounds that have drained your precious energy and afflicted you with false negative narratives. Together, we will find out what your story truly has to tell us, and rewrite it for your benefit!

You are an adult at a crossroads in your life and are looking for more intensive therapy than someone to talk to. You have experienced mis-attunements and/or trauma in your early life and have struggled to untangle the coping mechanisms that no longer work for you. Perhaps you don't know yourself or even know how to know yourself. Perhaps you just keep ending up in relationships that repeat past patterns no matter how hard you try not to. The idea of spending years in weekly therapy to get anywhere feels like too little. You need dynamic, change-oriented therapy that makes a difference quickly and offers more than just talking.

Living with untreated mental health concerns can be as blaring as crisis or subtle as the feeling that something is "off". However it shows up, counseling can help you start working with your pain and processing your experiences with professional aid. My style of counseling engages clients' unique inner worlds via practices like art therapy, dreamwork and attention to somatic signals, without neglecting the impacts of outer circumstances and systemic harms.

I particularly enjoy working with neurodivergent teens and adults, creative types, individuals dealing with high-stress jobs who are wanting to prioritize their mental health, those looking for a space to process the stressors of navigating daily life, and those struggling with their relationship to food, their body, and movement. I'm strongly influenced by the importance of play and enjoy working with folks to add more play to their lives. I have additional training in EMDR therapy and am a Certified Body Trust provider through the Center for Body Trust.

I believe every person is creative, worthy, and capable if given the right support and care. My clients are often queer or trans, many identify as disabled or chronically ill, and most of them have experienced trauma throughout their lives. Many of my clients also identify as neurodivergent and want to understand how to work with their brains more effectively without judgment. Most of my clients have been taught that their body-minds are inconvenient, shameful, or difficult.

Sometimes, we have a problem that needs an outside perspective that allows ourselves to resolve it and move forward. Sometimes, we just need confirmation that what we are thinking is real and justified. Whether it is anxiety, depression, relationship issues, suicidality, or changes in life you are dealing with (like empty nesting, retirement, moving from home, elderly care) are all things we need help to transition into. I can help you navigate them collaboratively, and with your narrative in place.

Do you ever worry that you're 'too much' or 'not enough'? Would you be happier if you were different? Those feelings are common, especially for people of marginalized identity. In the therapy space, my goal is to deconstruct narratives about what you're 'supposed' to be and instead, help you love who you are right now. I specialize in supporting individuals as they navigate the complexities of LGBTQ+ identities, trauma, alternative relationship dynamics, and intersectionality.

The most important stories inside of us always find a way to speak. Sometimes they speak loudly, and sometimes just a whisper; in the thoughts we have, the way we feel, the way our bodies feel. Your anxiety, your memories, your relationship struggles, your deep identity questions. These stories live in our bodies, often uncomfortably or distressingly. In therapy, we can attend to these stories with compassion, and learn to understand how every part of you belongs to your whole self.

When the fullness of ourselves and our histories are held with care without pathologizing or othering, we can tap into all the possibilities of the people we want to become and the communities we want to build. We can always surprise ourselves in the ways we can grow and I hope to support you in being curious about what this can look like for you. Whether you are trying to figure out your support needs (and how to get them met!); wanting to define your values (and how to live by them!); or wondering what’s next in your life after feeling stuck— I want to help.

My clients often begin therapy due to anxious and/or depressive symptoms emerging from more complex concerns that challenge their pursuits of meaningful living. They may have difficulties managing stress related to their relationships, work or study, and/or identity. Some struggle with the loss of someone or something important to them. Others may feel rudderless, uncertain about how to steer their life in a more fulfilling direction. In all cases I aim to provide a warm, nonjudgmental, and authentic relationship that encourages growth through the exploration of each client's sense of who they are and who they want to become.

Life can be a real struggle especially when we are out of balance or out of alignment with our own values, passions, and goals. Many folks I work with struggle to prioritize their own needs and desires, may be disconnected from what they those even are. Whether through childhood or relational trauma, internalized habits of masking neurodivergence or marginalized identities, or a deeply compassionate nature, the cost of this often burnout, depression, anxiety, and disconnection.

Accepting new clients. My clients are survivors of their respective challenges, trauma, or circumstances and they are ready to empower themselves to seek change. Clients who work with me are tired of the hardship caused by their symptoms and by the bias, stigma, abuse, or other forms of oppression in their lives. Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
