We all have the fundamental need to grow into and express who we are meant to be. However, this natural process can be inhibited by our need to adapt to pressures of family and society, by trauma, or by seemingly unresolvable contradictions in our personality. The goal of therapy is to bring this latent process to life, and to make it more conscious. A good therapeutic relationship will help you to be more receptive to yourself and to notice and honor these inner workings.

We seek therapy when we find ourselves stuck. My role is to help you get unstuck so that you can live a happier and more rewarding life. Working collaboratively, we will identify and explore unrecognized patterns of relationship. Our basic experience of the world is largely determined by the nature of these patterns. I can help you change these patterns, and in this way to discover new possibilities for living.

Eating disorders, OCD, trust issues and Dissociative Disorders have been a large part of my practice.
I treat individuals, couples and families with the perspective of the whole system. Each person has learned beliefs and ideologies from their family of origin and bring those with them when they enter a new relationship. Helping uncover how those beliefs affect their lives is often key to the underpinnings of their problems and being able to decide what works for them is critical to being able to create a strong foundation in their relationships.

While my experiences have been diverse, my clinical interests are in trauma, dissociative disorders, Dissociative Identity Disorder, ritual abuse, relationship issues, cultural diversity and the impact of oppression, as well as women’s and LGBTQIA issues.
I believe that each person holds within themselves everything they need to heal and grow in the ways they would like. I see the therapist's role as being one in which provides an environment of safety and care where the client can explore themselves authentically. It is through this authentic exploration, that the therapist can help the client discover how patterns and ways of being are keeping the client stuck and resulting in suffering. By bringing into awareness these aspects, the client and therapist can then work collaboratively to release the pain and explore new ways of being.

Dissociative Disorders Therapists
Dissociative Disorders are conditions that involve the breakdown of memory. Dissociation is a mental process that produces a lack of connection in our thoughts, a separation of emotions, physical sensations, memories, actions or even our sense of identity. Most of us experience mild dissociation in our everyday lives. We call it daydreaming, getting lost in a movie or a book, or driving home on autopilot. These examples of dissociation are normal, and are a mild form of amnesia. Dissociation can become a disorder when it begins during a person's developmental years and becomes habitual and ingrained. If you're looking for help with dissociative disorders in Cold Spring or for a Cold Spring dissociative disorder therapist these professionals provide therapy for dissociative disorders. They include dissociative disorder therapists, dissociative disorder psychologists, dissociative disorder psychotherapists and dissociative disorder counselors. They can help with amnesia, memory problems, and loss of recall resulting from emotional trauma.
