I work with many people who feel overwhelmed by stress, have lost sense of meaning in their lives, or feel out of control. They repeat the same life patterns again and again. Clients may have focused on the opinions of others more than their own, entered relationships/jobs they never wanted, or feel generally unfulfilled. My clients want to learn how to be happy again or for the first time. My therapeutic style builds on client self-acceptance, empowerment, and coping skills. We work together to help gain control over decisions, values, and communication styles.
Most of my work involves increasing self-awareness while decreasing self-criticism. Self-awareness is the foundation for mindful living, but increasing mindfulness can be difficult in the face of criticism. I work with clients to identify and learn more functional ways of living.
