In my opinion, people's biggest fear is vulnerability (you know, "putting it out there"). Often, we refrain from expressing ourselves because we are never certain how we will be perceived. (Am I the only one feeling this way?!) Therapy should be a forum in which you can comfortably express ideas and concerns and be assured that you are not offending anyone, being judged, looked at oddly, recorded, or subject to the ramifications that often are the result of "confiding" in someone you know. After 25 years in the field, there is virtually nothing I have not heard before. Yet, each case evokes the same enthusiasm and passion as it always has. I still pride myself on getting people to really talk to me about subject matter that is often frightening, embarrassing, and/or painful.
My practice is dedicated to working with individuals, couples and families of all denominations; while creating an environment that allows you to "kick-off your shoes" (if you so desire). It is my hope that clients feel more like they have had an intense conversation with a good friend, than patients.
