I have had over 30 years of experience working with clients who are experiencing difficulties at transition times in their lives. I work with adolescents, adults and the elderly who are going through challenges associated with life cycle changes such as relationship problems, school or job related problems or dealing with chronic or acute medical problems. I work from a family systems perspective and often work with family members of those experiencing the kinds of issues I mentioned above. Many of the clients I work with present with depression, anxiety, anger, significant loss , couples issues and/or parenting issues.
My specialty is working with individuals and couples from psychodynamic and family systems perspectives. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral and interpersonal approaches. I believe that clients want noticeable change but that understanding what led to their difficulties is also important.
I am a gentle, non confrontational clinician who sees my responsibility as helping to guide my clients to their own answers. I am a listener but will take charge to keep the clinical hour focused on what is potentially most helpful given the presenting problems.
