I am a licensed professional counselor and have worked for the past 25 years in residential and private practice. I provide individual and group counseling for adolescents and adults struggling with trauma (PTSD/C-PTSD/MST) and mood disorders, which includes depression and anxiety and any behavioral related problems. My approach to therapy is typically goal-directed, which means your counseling sessions will be designed to help you overcome your current challenges and reach satisfaction.
My practice is mind/body based or bottom up rather than top down. Psychoeducation and work in the office to stabilize the reactive nervous system is completed before working on any memories or talk around the traumatic history.
When working on trauma resolution I utilize techniques from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Deep Brain Reorienting, art and sand-tray play. These provide a unique experience for clients to securely work through issues that they may otherwise find overwhelming.
