This can consist of CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care and substance abuse therapy.
Life is a struggle sometimes and even then, it can feel like it is a struggle all the time. This can lead to emotional and physical fatigue/pain resulting in a lack of motivation to have relationships with anyone and even ourselves. When we feel like the world is against us is when it is most important to reach out to someone and that is where a therapeutic relationship comes into play. The therapeutic relationship is one that you can trust, feel no judgment, find guidance, and learn to trust yourself again.

Waitlist for new clients
My approach is empathic, solution-focused, strength-based and encompasses principles of cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and dialectical-behavioral (DBT) methodologies.
It can be difficult to ask for help when life gets overwhelming and you believe you should be able to handle everything on your own. Everyone needs support at times. Let's work together to identify and change unhealthy patterns in your life. My goal is to provide a judgement-free space for you to share your unique strengths and challenges. Most clients benefit from simply being heard and validated without judgement. Successful clients are open to trying something different. Keep an open mind and consider new approaches to coping and problem resolution and you'll experience change.

I utilize a combination of Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy with most of my clients.
In my 15+ years of clinical practice I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families struggling with a variety of mental health challenges. I have given special focus to adolescents and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, self-harm, self-esteem, and self-identity issues. I am always learning in order to increase my specialized focus on concerns related to anxiety, adoption and emerging adulthood. I enjoy working with the 10-25 year old age group but throughout my years of private practice I have worked with children as young as 5 and adults as young as 65. I hope to help clients find satisfaction in life.

We are a therapeutic team - you being the expert of your own experience and me being a sounding board for thoughts, feelings, and emotions. My therapeutic approach combines person centered therapy with aspects of cognitive behavioral (CBT), solutions focused, and dialectical-behavioral (DBT) therapies. This means we will implement skills for emotion regulation, communication, and facing anxiety while also making space to talk about your experiences.

For this reason, trauma informed care and focus on attachment patterns has become an integral part of my practice. Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
