I work from a trauma-informed perspective that includes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and mindfulness.
Every emotion, thought, or feeling we experience is valid and has the potential to influence our lives. Feeling intense emotions, especially around feelings of grief, can be difficult to process and at times we need to seek clarity for what we are experiencing. I learned this during my own grief journey through the losses of loved ones. We will work together to create worthwhile, real change. I will offer my support in a nurturing and non-judgmental environment. I will offer a specialized approach to each session because every person is unique.

Psychotherapy can be a life changing experience. The first step of the process is finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable. I would like to help you explore your unique situation to discover whether I might be that therapist for you. Together, we will work to understand how your mind works and how to use this understanding to create the life you want. I am an active therapist who utilizes an integrative approach to treatment. I pull from psychodynamic, dialectical behavioral (DBT), mentalizing, and interpersonal theories to help patients build skills and self awareness while helping them live their life to the fullest.

Hi, I’m Chardé. I’m here to remind you that our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us. There seems to be no one who can see it, but you’re just about ready to tap out. Your plans have been laid, and you’re ambitious and determined, but inside your motivation fades and your fears are growing. You’ve spent the last few years running the race, jumping through the hoops you thought would keep things together, yet it doesn’t seem like there is an end. You’ve given everything to others and now you are the one who feels left behind like no one understands. No more. It’s time you make a change.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to creating a safe space for sharing, healing, and transformation to occur. I approach this relationship from a client-centered and trauma-informed perspective, and my therapeutic orientation is holistic, intuitive, and integrative. Art therapy and other symbolic communication can be an important component of psychological healing, and I specialize in expressive therapies that encourage self-exploration.

My approach is rooted in a holistic and strength-based perspective, integrating modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
My goal: To meet you wherever you currently find yourself. Regardless of how that looks at this moment, it's important to recognize that there's nothing inherently 'wrong' or 'broken' about you. If guilt, shame, and maladaptive behavior overwhelms and persist, it signals a need for change. Whether you're navigating PTSD, grief, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use, or life transitions, my aim is to guide you in understanding, managing, addressing root causes, and initiating a healing process.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
