I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, offering both DBT adherent and DBT informed treatment for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder.
If there is one thing we can count on in life is change; expected or unexpected, wanted or unwanted.Perhaps it is a loss/ trauma, a difficult transition, a depressed or anxious mood,a new diagnosis or new symptoms, becoming a caregiver or a parent; changes in your family. Changes in life can alter your plans, your relationships, expectations, sense of self and daily functioning. In some cases, it might cause the overuse of substances to manage the stressors we experience. Open and direct communication is the most effective way to overcome challenges in life. Together, we can foster change and take concrete steps to achieve your goals.

I offer a mix of evidence-based short-term therapy modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, and brief psychodynamic psychotherapy.
It's time to live the life you want to live - and decide what that life looks like. I see adolescents and young adults (13-35) and specialize in anxiety, LGBTQIA+ issues (including identity and family conflict), eating disorders, and chronic illness. Sometimes this might mean learning and practicing new skills to help you manage problems and obstacles; other times it may mean really exploring within yourself. Frequently, it means recognizing that negative thought patterns are getting in your way -- and we can work together to find individualized solutions for you!

My style of therapy encompasses the idea of motivating through speaking your truth. I reach people with my honest, genuine, and real sense of intuition about challenges they face. My goal for clients is to increase personal awareness of problematic behaviors they want to change and then engage in finding new ways to incorporate change in their lives with struggling with power, control, depression, trauma, relationship problems, loss of identity, stillbirth, grief, and divorce. Currently I am working on my dissertation addressing trauma and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures in conjunction with treating emotion avoidance strategies with this select population.

I believe we achieve our life goals by focusing on our strengths, challenging negative core beliefs, and practicing mindfulness. Those are some of the tools I teach to help you live your best life. Family dysfunction impacted my development, and I did not learn effective ways to cope. I am grateful that I sought help and have now been in recovery 32 years. I get excited when I help others learn Dialectical Behavior Therapy to recover from addiction, mood disorders, and feelings of not being good enough. I’m grateful to those that have guided me and look forward to “paying it forward” by being a part of your healing journey!

Dialectical (DBT) Therapists
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the treatment most closely associated with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Therapists practice DBT in both individual and group sessions. The therapy combines elements of CBT to help with regulating emotion through distress tolerance and mindfulness. The goal of Dialectical Behavior Therapy is to alleviate the intense emotional pain associated with BPD. Its core assumption is that change and acceptance are intertwined. We typically think of our efforts to change things as emerging out of non-acceptance. We either decide to accept things as they are or we seek to change: through DBT it's not a case of change or acceptance, but resolving the conflicts to allow for self-acceptance and constructive change.

If you're looking for DBT therapy in Frisco or for a Frisco DBT therapist these professionals provide dialectical behavior therapy, DBT group therapy, DBT therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy (which is a common misspelling) and dialectical therapy. They provide dialectical counseling, DBT counseling in Frisco and DBT treatment. They include DBT groups, DBT therapists, DBT psychologists and DBT counseling.
