Her therapeutic work incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (mindfulness, distress tolerance), Expressive Art Techniques, Gottman Couples Therapy, & Narrative Therapy.
Often times we seek therapy because of struggles in relationships, adjusting to a new phase in life, uncertainty about the future, family stress, anxiety, & depression. You don't need to wait until you are in crisis to get help. Learning the balance between self-care & community care is a practice. Together we can explore different tools that can support you to work through emotions & patterns that may have happened in the past, but are playing a part in your desire to grow now. We don't choose what happens to us, but it is part of our journey to work through them. Our work together is to increase your choices and awareness.

I include elements of CBT, ACT, DBT, & family systems.
I offer therapy and assessment to people of all ages, 6 and up, who might be struggling with inattention, mood or anxiety, executive functioning, learning differences, family problems, or social difficulties. Therapy can help to develop self-knowledge and acceptance, confidence, and empowerment to make meaningful change. The goal of assessment is to identify a person’s unique neurodivergent strengths, challenges and needs. When I work with families, we look for solutions that respect the autonomy of all family members and addresses the emotional needs of kids - and their parents - who may be struggling with meeting expectations.

I have training in mindfulness, DBT, and CBT skills.
Learning to grieve losses and adapt to life changes are challenges we will all face. A major loss such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or loss of a job can be devastating. Creating a new chapter in your life can be overwhelming. Working with a skilled, compassionate therapist in a safe, nurturing environment can provide critical support and guidance. My goal is to help you find light and hope during a dark time and to teach new coping skills to allow for healing and personal growth. Reaching out is the hardest part. I’d love to talk to you about your unique situation and needs.

I use a variety of treatment modalities including DBT-informed interventions, acceptance-based strategies, CBT, narrative approaches, EMDR, and object relations psychodynamic therapy.
As your therapist you can count on me to be genuine, honest, and to never give up on you, even if you've given up on yourself. Whether it's sitting with painful emotions, cultivating comprehensive toolkits, increasing insight, managing relationships, or developing a more compassionate sense of self, I will work with you each step of the way. I firmly believe any individual, when presented with a safe, warm, and caring relationship, will blossom and flourish regardless of their circumstances.

My approach ranges from DBT and mindfulness work for anxiety and depression to the traditional psychodynamic and interpersonal therapy.
Many of my clients share a need to explore familial relationships to understand their behavioral patterns and how to make those patterns healthier. Others struggle with anxiety or depression and wish to learn coping skills to better handle the challenges of daily life. Additionally, I have worked with Princeton undergraduate and graduate students for many years and understand well the many and varied challenges which students may face.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
