Some of the techniques I have found most useful include DBT, EMDR and mindfulness.
I have had the privilege of getting to know and connect with people from every walk of life for almost 20 years. These experiences have helped me to understand that we all have so much in common as humans trying to navigate and accept the struggles we all have. I value all that I have learned from my clients, and hopefully helped them to find a level of peace in their lives. Using a variety of techniques, such as DBT and mindfulness with adults, couples and teens, I work to help individuals come to understand life choices.

My clinical work is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. I help people process the thoughts, behaviors, and emotions they are experiencing. We can look at how automatic thoughts impact the way people see themselves and the world around them. We can also look at strategies to change thoughts and behaviors, which can then impact emotional experiences. I incorporate mindfulness, positive psychology, and dialectical behavioral therapy approaches to customize treatment. I work with people to identify their goals and priorities, and I offer support to enact change that is meaningful and fulfilling.

My practice is strongly informed by DBT.
NOT CURRENTLY TAKING NEW CLIENTS I view therapy as a process of understanding and healing. Often times we discover that there are parts of ourselves that we do not acknowledge, we cannot acknowledge, because the pain is too great. Finding a balance between acceptance and change, while sustaining compassion, can help us grow stronger.Therapy work needs to be done together, in a safe space, at a safe pace. I have seen the impact of trauma on daily life...and I have seen people heal by doing this work. I would be honored to be a part of your process.

I primarily draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy & mindfulness based self-compassion.
“The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story." -Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. We often create a story about our lives that is untrue or unkind. We become bound by shame, guilt or negative self-perceptions. These views shape how we show up in the world and dictate what we feel we deserve and what we can achieve. Four principles of my therapeutic practice include: addressing shame, challenging negative core beliefs, building self-awareness and creating self-efficacy.

Dialectical (DBT) Therapists
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the treatment most closely associated with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Therapists practice DBT in both individual and group sessions. The therapy combines elements of CBT to help with regulating emotion through distress tolerance and mindfulness. The goal of Dialectical Behavior Therapy is to alleviate the intense emotional pain associated with BPD. Its core assumption is that change and acceptance are intertwined. We typically think of our efforts to change things as emerging out of non-acceptance. We either decide to accept things as they are or we seek to change: through DBT it's not a case of change or acceptance, but resolving the conflicts to allow for self-acceptance and constructive change.

If you're looking for DBT therapy in Saint Paul or for a Saint Paul DBT therapist these professionals provide dialectical behavior therapy, DBT group therapy, DBT therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy (which is a common misspelling) and dialectical therapy. They provide dialectical counseling, DBT counseling in Saint Paul and DBT treatment. They include DBT groups, DBT therapists, DBT psychologists and DBT counseling.
