My therapeutic approach is influenced by Narrative, Acceptance and Commitment, and Dialectical Behavioral therapies, somatic and mindfulness practices, Internal Family Systems, and trauma-focused techniques.
As a human navigating this ever-changing world, it is my belief that we each hold knowledge, power, and peace within ourselves. However, it is fair to say that we don't always feel this way. I have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, shame, depression, life change, and trauma. My therapeutic goal is to hold space for you, support you, and help you enrich your life. I am committed to social justice and believe that systemic dynamics influence a person's mental health. I continually strive to have a validating space for all identities, and I advocate for anti-oppression on both community and systemic platforms.

My work draws on my training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing , Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and EMDR 2.
A collaborative perspective is important. That's why working together toward developing a good rapport and trust is needed in therapy. My style and approach includes warmth, sensitivity, honesty and humor, laughing is healing. Change comes with being understood, listened to and feeling comfortable. Healing starts with courage and wisdom and coming to therapy is a big step. Everyone's journey to healing is different, therefore I do my best to tailor treatment to fit your needs. Therapy works best when it engages the whole person, body, mind, emotions and spirit to assist in reaching the best outcome. Looking forward to meeting you.

I am trained in Narrative Therapy, and have certificates in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Systems Family Therapy.
I see life as a mosaic of experiences, and we all do the best we can with what we know at the time. But sometimes, anxiety, depression or the simple challenges of daily life can hold people back from living the fullest, best story of their life. My goal as a therapist is to explore and bring to light a person’s inner strengths, so they can overcome their personal obstacles and enjoy better, more productive lives and relationships. Everyone, regardless of life’s stumbles, deserves the best life they can imagine, and my goal is to walk with them and help them along this journey.

I am a trained DBT individual therapist, though not currently accepting new Level I DBT clients.
Every person's experience in therapy is unique. I know that my 20+ years of experience, the ongoing training I consistently pursue and the areas in which I have particular expertise are important factors to the people who come to see me. I create a safe and compassionate environment so individuals and couples can freely express their questions and needs. Beyond those critical pieces, I believe that the success of the therapy will rest on our ability to work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I focus on the whole person providing Adlerian Counseling, Emotion Focused Couple's & Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Yoga, Intuitive Eating Coaching & Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing.
I provide integral treatment to support you. We collaborate on methods to work towards goals, wellness and thriving in a healthy lifestyle. In EMDR therapy you will be guided through an 8 phase treatment with BLS (i.e. eye movement or tappers). After determining which memory to target, you will hold different aspects of that event, internal associations arise and you can process the memory & disturbing feelings. The meaning of the painful event is transformed on an emotional level. In marriage therapy (EFCT), our goals are to understand love systemically, emotions & attachment needs, control negative patterns & shape positive bonds.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
