My style is shaped by training in several evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.
As a therapist who believes in the transformative power of therapy, I work alongside clients as they address problems big and small while balancing acceptance and change. I take a non-judgmental stance and strive to remain client-centered. I believe change takes place through our co-created relationship. With experience supporting clients with a wide range of symptoms, labels, and concerns I work to join clients on their journey to identify and achieve their therapeutic goals.

I draw from various research-based treatment modalities including, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy-- utilizing all through a psychodynamic lens that links the past to the present in order to create the future you want for yourself and your loved ones.
"To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly". The therapeutic relationship is a partnership between two people who endeavor to co-create change. I have helped clients examine a wide range of issues (relational conflict, workplace difficulties, eating disorders, body image distress, addictions, trauma, spirituality, gender identity, aging, grief and loss, and sexual orientation). We will work together to alleviate your most pressing problems as well as develop a fuller understanding of the underlying issues that keep you stuck in emotional patterns that limit your capacity to enjoy the quality of life you desire.

I support clients in holding themselves with tenderness and power. I draw from Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Human Development, and Mindfulness to support clients by integrating body and mind in processing trauma.

I have specialized training in many therapeutic practices: career counseling and assessment; cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia; mind-body skill work; dialectical behavior therapy; prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapies for PTSD; and cognitive behavior therapy.
Many people struggle with symptoms of depression, anxiety or insomnia. Others have difficulty in relationships, are dissatisfied with work or face serious health challenges. And many others struggle to adapt to life changes, or simply feel discouraged or unhappy. I work collaboratively with my clients to target the issues most challenging to them and use evidence-based approaches to improve those problems. I believe that developing a strong relationship with my clients provides the essential base from which sustainable change can be achieved. I am PsyPact certified and can practice telepsychology in those states.

I have done extensive training in EMDR, self compassion, mindfulness, and DBT.
We are all on a journey that often presents itself in different ways for different people; each person’s life is unique. I love connecting with and seeing my clients reach their goals, sometimes that means being in a space of validation and collaboration, sometimes that means I hold you accountable for doing the work required to change to meet your goals. Regardless, I will be there for you. It doesn’t matter if it is anxiety, depression, addiction or trauma that is getting in the way, I will help you find a way to a better place.

My therapy is informed by CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Existential Therapy, and ACT, and is evolving as I read, listen, and collaborate with other therapists.
Crisis is a normal part of human life. We all have them. We can allow them to demoralize us and make us more scared and hopeless, but that’s not the only option. We can also use these moments of pain to learn and grow, and become stronger and more resilient. If we are patient, they can also transform our hearts and make us more compassionate.

My theoretical orientation is person-centered and using many skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I have a passion for working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma, and navigating the "deep, dark spaces" of life. I also focus on working with clients who have borderline personality disorder, and who feel life's ups and downs intensely. I work with adults of all ages, especially members of the LGBTQIA+ community, folks across the gender spectrum, and folks who have experienced religious trauma or spiritual abuse.

I also have training in Complicated Grief Therapy and good knowledge of DBT.
I believe the process of therapy is about the therapist and client joining together in a collaborative effort to work toward goals. Every person has strengths and values that are essential to living their best possible life. Sometimes obstacles get in the way of living those values and recognizing our strengths, including family, trauma, health concerns, and mental health difficulties. Through a systemic and trauma-informed lens, we will create individualized goals and approaches that best meet your needs.

There is power in uncovering and looking more closely at what may be causing stress or strain in our current life. Working through these concerns with another can increase personal growth and foster well-being and resilience.

I also incorporate DBT principles, view each client as a unique being, build therapeutic connections, and create a safe space to process and make art using various mediums such as photography, painting, museum tours, drawing, collage, and many more art materials.
Creating art promotes emotional awareness, reflection and processing of the human experience, and the beauty of using art therapeutically is that previous art experience is not required. I'm glad to work with clients who have never made art, or make it every day. Whether you want to work on processing experience and emotion, need mental health support, want to use an integrative mental health approach or just need some time to experience mindfulness and stress management tools, I am here to help you utilize art therapy.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
