I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) treatment for trauma-related symptoms and in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for the development of the ability to fully experience the present moment, effective management of emotions, and fulfilling relationships.
The therapy experience is a unique and dynamic process for each individual toward self-realization. From a client-centered strengths-based orientation, it is my goal to create a safe environment with unconditional positive regard where each person can feel welcomed, understood, and accepted as their true self. I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I have completed the Level II Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

I have strong training in dialectical behavior therapy for emotion dysregulation, eating disorders, and addiction.
Learning why we think, feel, and act the way we do is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. From there, we gain the ability to adjust, grow, connect, and show up in the world as our most authentic selves. I work primarily with addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. My approach to treating addictive problems is self-empowering and open minded. In addition to the listed disorders I treat, I love working with women's issues, relationship issues, phase of life issues, religious trauma, and the LGBTQ+ population.

My treatment approach centers on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a highly effective method for emotional regulation and resilience building.
I provide a safe and welcoming space for women to explore their emotions and the unique challenges they face. Recognizing that Adjustment Disorder can deeply impact daily life, my approach focuses on guiding individuals through these changes. I understand the complexities of balancing personal, professional, and familial responsibilities, as well as the stressors that can arise. By addressing these specific needs, I aim to empower individuals to build grit, resilience, and balance, enabling them to be their best selves.

I have trained other therapists in several of the treatment modalities I use, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Are you struggling to get a hold of your emotions? Does how you feel rule what you do, whether that be staying in bed all day, avoiding people, or saying things you later regret? Many people struggle to make effective choices when they experience strong emotions. My practice seeks to help you understand your emotions, develop a sense of trust in your experiences, and to learn tools to manage your emotions and make choices that enhance your quality of life.

We integrate treatments, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, self-compassion and positive psychology.
Is your life not where you want it to be? Change is hard. While doing things differently can feel uncomfortable at first, it is possible to do, and becomes more comfortable with time. Change often applies to the behaviors we engage in, or the thoughts that we have. Change can also apply to our relationship with our thoughts, and it is powerful to become less tied to the random thoughts that appear in our head. Let us help you with this! We are passionate about helping people get unstuck and move forward in their lives. Our approach is collaborative and non-judgmental, and includes warmth, compassion and humor.

I've been practicing DBT for 10 years with people of varying backgrounds and needs.
Are you experiencing a very challenging time in your life? Does it feel like you can't see your way back to you? Is it hard to recognize who you are from the way you feel? I can be there for you when it seems like the darkest, most difficult time in life. Many of my clients have told me that I am mothering and nurturing as a therapist. I approach therapy from a caring and compassionate perspective, more so after I became a mother of three children. Together we can use DBT techniques to help you reconnect with the things that are important to you and help you get back to being the person you want to be with the life you want to live.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
