I use a combination of talk therapy, expressive arts, mindfulness, compassion focused therapy, somatic therapy, CBT, and DBT during sessions.
Transforming our inner dialogues and practicing radical self compassion is an important part of healing. Speaking to oneself with gentleness and compassion can be a challenge for many, but we are all worthy of our own kindness. I am here to offer support in your healing journey with yourself. My approach is warm, patient, strengths based, and practical. I offer tools that clients can use to support their personal growth and healing, both during and outside of sessions. This includes learning how to build distress tolerance, learning emotional regulation skills, and practicing strategies for transforming inner thoughts.

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Relational Therapy to provide skills and tools for you to live a life that feels meaningful to you.
I believe people are trying their best through good and hard times. Especially during the hard times, we find ways to make it through. I work with people to figure out what their survival strategies are, which ones they want to keep or change. Sometimes, these strategies require us to code-switch, mask, or deny parts of ourselves. I enjoy helping people find out more about themselves, their values, and what ways to care for themselves. I work with them to build a therapy experience for rest, healing, and discovery. Together my clients and I build more places and experiences where they just get to be.

Specifically, I offer the use of techniques like Hakomi, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), attachment theory, creative expressions like art and music, developing mindfulness skills like breathework, somatic awareness and astrology informed tarot & oracle readings.
My framework as a psychotherapist is inspired by black feminist sci-fi writer, Octavia E. Butler who saw the possibility of many more worlds than just our own. I believe that transformative internal healing is critical to envisioning and building these worlds without the presence of imperialism, white supremacy, capitalism and cishet-patriarchy. The tools I use to support the exploration of individual, interpersonal and intergenerational trauma are shaped by abolition that rejects punitive and scarcity mindsets and disability justice which strives to value every body.

I am currently accepting clients for individual therapy, as well as for a DBT skills group for transgender and nonbinary adults.
Counseling, to me, is a collaborative space where clients are empowered to explore, find their own path, and work towards their goals. I’m a queer, neurodiverse counselor, and while I am especially passionate about discussing gender, sexuality, and neurodiversity with clients, I enjoy working on a variety of concerns with clients of any identity or experience. Therapy with me often includes building self-awareness, learning and practicing validation, and challenging oneself to make desired changes at a realistic pace.

I use IFS, DBT, and narrative approaches among other techniques, but I believe that therapy is first and foremost a human relationship, and I will invest in getting to know you and your unique life circumstances before adjusting my approach to support you in your specific goals and needs.
I specialize in working with women, young adults, trauma survivors, and individuals grappling with identity issues, finding purpose in life, and experiencing major life changes. You are not broken, and I am not here to heal you, fix you, rescue you, or make you better. I am here to support you on your journey to discovering your authentic self and releasing old stories and patterns of behaviors that no longer serve you so that you may live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.

I use CBT, DBT, and other modalities.
For many of us, we are so focused on taking care of others that we forget to take care of ourselves. This can be especially true in motherhood and parenting. It is so easy to push our needs aside and take care of others. I work with adults, specializing in pregnancy and postpartum support, anxiety, stress, life transitions and depression. We can work together to reduce negative thinking patterns and stress, feel more connected to yourself and others, and decrease worry and find meaning in your life. I help you identify and use your strengths, utilize coping skills, and create lasting changes.

I am eclectic in my approach; some evidence-based approaches I utilize are: EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive/dialectical behavioral therapies, acceptance commitment therapy and narrative therapy.
Everyone deserves the time and space to lay down their worries, their fears, their past, their pain—and especially their hopes for the future and the change they want to see in their lives. My job is to provide that time and space to my clients, listening attentively, non-judgmentally and empathetically. Once we’ve settled into that space, we can work together to identify your goals and work to achieve them. I am experienced in working with adults and teens with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD and trauma, mood and thought disorders, substance use, grief, major life transitions and self-esteem. If you're ready, I'm here for you.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
