Certified in EMDR and Intensively Trained in DBT, I hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Neuropsychology from Fielding University, and a master's in Counseling Psychology and Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University.
Hope is not something that everyone has, but it is something everyone deserves. Most people suffer from more than one problem at once. My expertise allows me to help people resolve compounding problems though an integrative and effective approach. My passion is working with complex trauma, intense emotions, and addiction. I am committed to helping you feel better, uncover your potential, and achieve meaningful goals.

Is your child struggling to control their emotions or reactions? Has their behavior changed and you’re not sure why? Maybe their grades have dropped; all of the sudden you’re getting calls from the school; they may have withdrawn into themselves, or begin lashing out at others. While children and teens are incredibly resilient, even under the best of circumstances, they may need support from someone outside of the family in order to recover from a major change, or unlock their full potential & thrive. That is where therapy comes in, and I would love to be the one to help.

You deserve to be having the best days! You know that something has to shift, but not exactly sure what that is or how things will change. Your emotions might be inhibiting you from feeling empowered, confident and clear in your decision making. I would be honored to support you in gaining perspective through a style that is direct, down to earth and focuses on a collaborative approach. I believe that life is a series of transitions, some more challenging than others, and that there is no reason to proceed solo.

Maybe you've been feeling anxious, depressed or your relationships are struggling. Feeling overwhelmed from depression, PTSD or anxiety can negatively affect your job, your confidence and your ability to be present on a daily basis. You might be thinking - "Nobody knows what I'm going through" - or have thoughts telling you - “You are not good enough.” Maybe you've felt lost and hopeless. You do not have to go through this alone.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
