I will use an integrative approach, meaning that I will use a combination of therapeutic techniques depending on what you need, and it's highly influenced by CBT, DBT and Eastern Philosophy.
I’m a non-traditional therapist with a modern approach. I show up to each session as my authentic self because I know how important it is to be able to trust and relate to your therapist. I am a collaborator in our sessions because let’s be real, nobody wants a therapist that nods, only listens and asks you “and how does that make you feel?” At the end of the day, we just want someone who gets us, and I get that.

I'm a unique therapist that treats a wide array of mental health disorders. We focus on resolving past and current issues/trauma, finding solutions and eliciting organic change. If we are not solving your problems, I am wasting your time. My practice goes far beyond talk therapy, we do work. We explore childhood, adolescent and other lifetime experiences that impact our psychological functioning. To permanently resolve our disorders we must revisit and resolve these thoughts, feelings and events. I utilize DBT as part of my treatment approach and we engage from the first minute we meet.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy combines standard cognitive-behavioral techniques and present moment awareness.
In my twenty years of working in the mental health field, I've learned that it is not the situation that can render us helpless, but the meaning we create about the situation. The judgments we make about ourselves and others can make a situation worse, creating anxiety, depression, or undue stress. I specialize in providing therapeutic interventions to decrease self defeating patterns and negative self-talk. You will be engaged in a partnership as treatment goals are identified to personalize your care. I specialize in the following therapies: DBT, CBT, EMDR, Mindfulness Meditation, Hypnotherapy, and Imago Couple Therapy.

Grounded in evidence-based modalities like DBT and CBT, I specialize in treating anxiety and trauma with expertise in working with first responders.
The human experience is characterized by a blend of uncertainty and challenges that arise, demanding our attention and resilience. These challenges manifest in various forms, often triggering feelings of anxiety, sadness, and a sense of being lost and overwhelmed. However, what if amidst these struggles lies an opportunity for empowerment? What if we could reframe our perspective, viewing each day as an avenue for growth, learning, and self-discovery? By harnessing the power within our everyday difficulties, we have the potential to transform our mindset, cultivate resilience, and ultimately thrive amidst life's uncertainties.

Over the years, I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and even aspects of play therapy to help clients develop skills and understand their emotions and behaviors.
As a Mental Health Advocate, I give speeches all over the nation to reduce stigma around Mental Health and encourage people to seek professional counseling, rather than “just talking to a friend about it or not talk about their problems at all”. As a Pakistani, Muslim immigrant who came to America with no knowledge of mental health, I understand how the confusion of identities, societal pressure to fit in and cultural differences can create emotional turmoil. Being in the mental health field for over 7 years, has allowed me to evolve as a Mental Health public speaker, who helps those with anxiety, depression and suicidal ideations,

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
