"Hi I'm Joanne. Psychology Today asks "imagine your ideal client." The honest answer is that I don't have one. I've worked in the behavioral health field for 15 wonderful years. During that time, I've worked with diverse populations, people with a vast variety of diagnoses, and people with a wide range of differences in levels of functioning. The most important aspect of therapy for me is that we build trust and a strong working alliance in order to confront and overcome whatever challenges you may face. "

"As children, we are learning from interactions with our parents who we are and how to fit into the world around us. After we leave home, we become our own parents as we continue to learn about ourselves and how to find our own place in life. And when we have families of our own, we are now parents both for our children and for ourselves, as we continue to understand more about who we are. I provide a warm, empathic and accepting environment where you can explore your current life challenges, as well as address past issues that impact your everyday life."

I've successfully helped clients work through the initial shock of diagnosis, learn effective coping skills, and view the present and future in a realistic, positive light. I've also helped clients with chronic illnesses maximize their quality of life and reach their goals, such as returning to work or school, or being a better parent or spouse. "Kids, teens, and college students are often dealing with an overwhelming amount of stress. Parents' goals for their children aren't to survive but to thrive. Parents cultivate this by teaching their children skills such as modeling how to work through difficulties or mistakes, guiding them in how to process through emotions, and helping their child to understand their own needs. Teaching these things can become increasingly difficult when a child begins experiencing a mood disorder. I'm here to support, utilizing a holistic approach to help build a toolset to help individuals feel more capable of coping with life's stressors. "

Developmental Disorders Therapists
'Developmental disorder' is the collective term used to describe the disorders, first diagnosed in a child's infancy or early childhood, which then become more apparent as the kids develop during their childhood and into their teens and adolescence. Like all labels, it means little and is open to interpretation.

The developmental disorders are categorized in to two areas: specific developmental disorders, which affect discrete parts of a kid's development, and the pervasive disorders (e.g. PDD Washington), which affect multiple developmental basics. The specific developmental disorders include communication disorders, speech and language issues, such as stuttering or lisps in Washington; learning disorders; and motor function or motor skills disorders, which may include tics or Tourette's in Washington.

The pervasive developmental disorders (PDDs) include autism, asperger's, attention-deficit and disruptive behavior disorders.

There are other issues that can affect childhood development, which are included in the developmental disorders--such as feeding and eating disorders, elimination disorders, separation anxiety disorder, and reactive attachment disorder.

Look here for help with children, kids or teens with developmental disorders in Washington or Washington developmental issues. Try a Washington child therapist, Washington facility or Washington treatment program. These therapists provide help with kids' developmental issues in Washington, child development, teen development and adolescent development. They include developmental therapists in Washington, developmental psychologists, developmental counseling and treatment for developmental disorders. They'll also help with problem teens development in Washington, teenagers development problems in Washington, Washington teenage development and teenager developmental issues.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in Washington are able to work with a wide range of issues.

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counselor in Washington you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counseling or couples counseling in Washington and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counseling in Washington or family therapy in Washington.
