"Are you seeking help for a child or teen who is struggling emotionally, displaying challenging behaviors, experiencing difficulties in school or in personal relationships? I have over 30 years experience treating children exposed to trauma, whether from family conflict, divorce, exposure to violence, bullying, alienation, accidental injury, or abuse. When children experience trauma, they can become detached from their bodies, numbed to emotion, and stuck in repetitive trauma memories. The work (and play) of therapy is to assist them in reconnecting to those parts of their Self that have "shut down" so that the process of healing can begin."

"Hi, I am a Narrative Therapy trained psychotherapist. What that means is that I believe that each of us wants to find fulfillment, internal peace, and connection, but sometimes problems get in the way. In the face of life's challenges, it can be all too easy to define ourselves by what pains us and to gauge our self-worth by our problems. However, I work from the premise that you are not the problem, the problem is the problem. By changing our relationship to our problems we can gain control of and achieve peace with our emotional selves."

"The human spirit has an amazing capacity for resilience, but sometimes it's too hard to access it on your own. When we encounter challenges and problems in relationships, in our workplaces, in our families, we can feel overwhelmed, hopeless, & stuck. It's not uncommon to feel depressed or anxious, or seek out unhealthy ways to function that mask the hurt. It's in situations like these that it takes great strength to reach out and ask for help--to seek someone to come alongside and enter into your experience; help shoulder the burden, and rediscover and connect with that resiliency."

I have specialized in eating disorders and co-morbid conditions (depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD), and previously worked as a DIR/Floortime Therapist for children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorders. "Many people are hurting in their day- to- day life. Whether the hurt is from a personal challenge such as anxiety, depression, self- esteem, grief and loss or a relational one within marriage, with children or teens and or with family or friends- it is crucial to remember that healing is possible. Healing is a journey where acknowledgment of what caused your hurt is the first step then the often forgotten step is learning to thrive in that place where pain once lived. I am here to help you in your healing voyage. Don't let unspoken fears hold you back from getting help. "

"Would you like to let go of concerns about your weight and body image? Is emotional eating one of your primary coping mechanisms? Many women, across the life span, struggle with issues around food, their bodies, and self confidence. I work holistically with women, as I believe that all aspects of our lives, from sleep and nutrition to relationships or past trauma, are integrally related. We will work together to develop the insight, skills, and tools you'll need to achieve your goals. "

Developmental Disorders Therapists
'Developmental disorder' is the collective term used to describe the disorders, first diagnosed in a child's infancy or early childhood, which then become more apparent as the kids develop during their childhood and into their teens and adolescence. Like all labels, it means little and is open to interpretation.

The developmental disorders are categorized in to two areas: specific developmental disorders, which affect discrete parts of a kid's development, and the pervasive disorders (e.g. PDD Whittier), which affect multiple developmental basics. The specific developmental disorders include communication disorders, speech and language issues, such as stuttering or lisps in Whittier; learning disorders; and motor function or motor skills disorders, which may include tics or Tourette's in Whittier.

The pervasive developmental disorders (PDDs) include autism, asperger's, attention-deficit and disruptive behavior disorders.

There are other issues that can affect childhood development, which are included in the developmental disorders--such as feeding and eating disorders, elimination disorders, separation anxiety disorder, and reactive attachment disorder.

Look here for help with children, kids or teens with developmental disorders in Whittier or Whittier developmental issues. Try a Whittier child therapist, Whittier facility or Whittier treatment program. These therapists provide help with kids' developmental issues in Whittier, child development, teen development and adolescent development. They include developmental therapists in Whittier, developmental psychologists, developmental counseling and treatment for developmental disorders. They'll also help with problem teens development in Whittier, teenagers development problems in Whittier, Whittier teenage development and teenager developmental issues.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
