Hello, my name is Desiree Johnson, and I am a licensed therapist in the state of Texas; number 82976. I studied and graduated from Sam Houston University with a master's in counseling and a concentration in Marriage, couples, and family. My theoretical approach to therapy is centered on your needs. I have experience working with emotional-focused therapy, CBT, DBT, Psychoeducational Therapy, Narrative therapy, and the Gottman method. I have knowledge of Adlerian Theory therapy, Acceptance Therapy, and Bowenian Theory.
I try to set a tone of safety and transparency in session. I try to make you feel as comfortable as possible to tell your secrets to and be vulnerable to a complete stranger. Hopefully, as we continue to get to know each other, you can start to feel more open and secure in discussing all things you would like freely.
My goal as a therapist is to help you, and sometimes that includes new things to try that may be outside of your comfort zone and can feel challenging. These challenges will always be towards the goals you set that you want to work on at your own pace.
