He has worked with military personnel, law enforcement, and the foster care system. Derek has significant experience in working with individuals and families struggling with addiction and utilizes a safe and warm environment to engage his clients in developing healthy strategies to work through their recovery and engage families in adapting to changes in the family dynamic.
In addition to individual therapy, Derek works with couples and families to assist in establishing healthy communication, secure boundaries, and improve their conflict resolution. Derek hopes to help his clients regain a positive perspective, find acceptance, and pursue their desire to move towards a healthy future.
Derek Atkins, MA, LPC is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary with a master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. Derek is a former resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado and has a joy of the great outdoors and a love for playing all contact sports.
