I work with adults dealing with unhappy relationships, problems in communication, anxiety and depression. I love working with couples and frequently use the principles found in Gary Chapman's book: "The 5 love languages". It is important to note I am not a Christian counselor, I simply teach the communication aspects of this book. I am a preferred provider with Premera Blue Cross, Regence Blue Cross, First Choice Health Network, LifeWise and HMA. If you happen to have other insurance, I can bill them using your out of network benefits. I do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.

From early childhood, we are surrounded by expectations - from family, friends, culture, society.  We internalize those expectations and experience their impact on our health, career, finances, relationships. Sometimes it manifests as perfectionism or Imposter Syndrome…sometimes as anxiety, grief, depression and stress.  In the effort to please everyone, we are often left exhausted, defeated, feeling like a failure. So maybe it’s time to rewrite that script imposed upon you…or the one that you imposed upon yourself.

Our beliefs, behavior patterns, and perceptions can prevent us from living a fulfilling and meaningful life. Noticing how we think and identifying life values can provide a compass for living and give us direction, away from anxiety and depression. We can be empowered by choices about where our mind would take us.

My experience has been working with adults, children 6+, and teens experiencing, stress, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, codependency, trauma, career decisions, grief and loss, relationship challenges, family member or individual addiction/recovery and new parents.
As your therapist, my goal is to be an ally and collaborate with you to help you find balance in an otherwise chaotic world. One of my first priorities when working with a new client is to hear their story. Through that, I strive to empower you so that you can live the life you want and deserve. I will help you go inward and make sustainable changes, so that you grow into the best version of yourself. I see clients a whole person with many functioning parts/roles making up who they are and how they see the world.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Renton. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
