As a therapist, I help clients navigate the process of change in a caring and supportive environment. I believe counseling is an opportunity for healing and growth, for ourselves and our relationships. Throughout our lives we all have experiences that shape who we are and how we view the world. These experiences impact us in both positive and negative ways. Understanding how the past informs our present can empower us to make changes towards a more authentic future.

Over the past 30 years, Dr. Rutberg-Self has specialized in child/adolescent testing, primarily for assessing learning and behavioral problems, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, autism, and complex mood disorders. These assessments are comprehensive in nature and involve intelligence, academic, personality, and neuropsychological batteries. Dr. Rutberg-Self also conducts classroom observations and consults with multiple parties, such as teachers, pediatricians, counselors, etc. These evaluations are often critical for generating the accommodations children and teens need in school, as par of IEP and 504 plans.

Oftentimes, the pain that we experience is rooted in relationships and as a result, it is in relationships that we heal. As a Jesus follower, I am here to walk with you through some of the hardest moments in your life in a way that will result in true and lasting change.

Glyn Deputy, M.Ed, LMHC, brings a keen awareness of both the necessities and subtleties of surviving our human condition and reaching one’s full potential to his clients at the Poulsbo office. Glyn has worked with generational family issues in rural and frontier communities, has assisted students with all types of disability in pursuing higher education, and has gained exceptional skills in mental health and substance abuse diagnosis and treatment, having broad experience in community mental health services.

My counseling approach is to first help you clarify your presenting problems from an integrated mind-body-environment perspective. I utilize mindfulness to help you to develop clarity in the present moment, and art therapy and focusing-oriented psychotherapy to help you explore and embrace your inner wisdom and natural capacity for healing. Through CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), we can compose an action plan together to develop new coping skills and better support your recovery. When working with children, I utilize art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness approaches, children focusing techniques, and sensory integration concepts from my occupational therapy experience.

Kasia Hoskins, MA, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a broad range of experience having worked both in community mental health settings as well as private practice. Kasia graduated in 2008 from Antioch University, Seattle, with a specialization in a child, couples, and family therapy. She has been licensed in her field since 2012. Kasia is passionate about assisting clients of all ages in the process of growth and change. She believes that therapy offers a unique opportunity to feel supported, and at the same time challenged in creating a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

Dianah also counsels couples and families through a variety of life-stages, helping them find well-being in their changing roles. Dedicated to working through the entire therapeutic process with you and those you love, Dianah creates a time and place for couples and families to explore their challenges and find acceptance, appreciation and gratitude for each family member. Dianah’s primary therapeutic modality is narrative therapy, and she integrates the principles and practice of mindful self-compassion in her counseling.

In my practice, I blend Hakomi, which is a mindfulness-based, somatic psychotherapy, with other mindfulness-based methods to help clients gently access and heal unresolved issues in order to decrease unnecessary suffering in their lives. My practice is ideal for clients who are curious about expanding their capacity for intimacy in their relationships and creating greater joy and satisfaction in their lives. I enjoy working with clients who are curious about and engaged in their own healing process, and who are committed to compassion and nonviolence in their relationships with others and with themselves. I welcome adults, adolescents, couples, and clients identified as LGBTQ.

I was drawn to psychology by the passion to understand the factors that create and support human health, creativity, resilience and happiness. Psychotherapy provides the means for growth and optimal performance as well as healing from the pain of depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma and chronic illness. If you would like working collaboratively to achieve positive life changes and goals or to resolve painful life issues using evidence-based methods incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, emotionally focused and eye movement desensitization reprocessing that have had their beneficial results validated by research and years of application, I would love to develop a plan of action with you.

School and peer relationships can be some of the biggest struggles for today's kids and their families. Maybe your child never wants to go to school or has conflict with his/her social group at school. Maybe your child struggles to keep up in class and with homework or constantly butts heads with his/her teacher and peers. I can help! I enjoy partnering with kids and their families who are struggling with educational and behavioral challenges of all kinds.

Connection is critical to our well-being, as are the experiences of feeling seen, understood and valued for who we truly are. My role is to help create an environment in which you experience these things, from which I can offer individualized therapy based on your specific problems and goals.

Within all of us, is a desire to feel at ease with who we are, and to feel a true sense of belonging. Our sense of belonging emerges as we skillfully attend to our whole selves, including unique strengths and challenges. I support clients in doing this by establishing a solid foundation of trust and connection. From this grounded and accepting place, clients are able to grow in self-awareness and self-compassion. I facilitate clients creatively accessing their internal/ external resources and gifts for greater health, ease and fulfillment.

Finding the right therapist is not an easy task, especially if you are queer, trans, non-binary, gay or lesbian or practice non traditional relationship structures ( open/poly). Many of us experience depression, anxiety, intense self doubt, even self hatred. My practice offers a space where we can use both talk and art therapy to maneuver through these tough and confusing emotions.

As a client-centered professional, I recognize the strength necessary for an individual to take the first step through the counselor's open door. Through trusting and empathetic positive relationship building, I join my clients in the exploration of a healthier, self-accepting perspective in addressing the challenging components of their life experience. I facilitate the client in the discovery of their own personal resolutions. My style of counseling is focused on self-exploration and increasing an individual's level of understanding surrounding their current life circumstances, and their own behaviors and reactions to those situations. I have a desire to understand each client, and utilize my therapeutic skills and knowledge of psychology and human behavior to facilitate growth.My philosophy is that a client is much more inclined to make possible their own solutions, if they are responsible for creating them.
