If you have been considering a holistic approach to therapy, you have found a therapist who encourages collaborating in the process of recovery. Recovery applies not only to beating addiction to behaviors or substances, but to restoring the agency it takes to understand problematic emotional experiences like depression, anxiety, and complex mental health disturbances, then learning what their message is for our deeper soul. There is often a part of us that wants to come home, to be found anew as we restore authentic narratives about ourselves, about the precious obstacles life has handed specifically to us.

Whether the barriers holding you back are traumatic past experiences, dysfunctional/unsatisfying relationships, problematic behaviors, depression, anxiety, identity issues, or a general lack of purpose, I would love to hear your story.
I have always been interested in people’s stories, understanding how they see the world as they do, and how they have overcome challenges. Each of us has a rich, often complicated history that led us to the present moment. As a psychologist, it is an honor and privilege to get to know my patients’ histories, understand what got them here, and help them to be who they want to be in the world.

In 30+ years as a couples therapist, I've helped many couples work through problems to create the kind of partnership they truly want. Most couples tell me that they want to feel connected with their partner again; to stop the 'same old arguments' from cycling over and over; to stop living like roommates; to end the painful silences; to feel heard and understood; and to feel hopeful, and happy again.

I believe that, in order to live a fulfilling life, you need to discover and be comfortable with who you are, what you love, what you need, and what you want. Regardless of the challenges my clients experience, I always strive to help create lasting change by helping my clients uncover the underlying causes of the challenges. I love helping clients uncover patterns that have created dysfunction in their lives and finding ways to alter those patterns to enhance overall health and happiness. We experience difficulties. We are all worthy of love and belonging. I provide a safe haven, a supportive non-judgmental place to grow and heal. I enjoy sharing the journey as motivated individuals and couples release patterns which no longer serve them, while discovering their strengths, resilience, goals, and, new ways of being and sharing. Sometimes, we need to acknowledge our limitations and reach for help to find our way. I am here for clients as they explore feelings and needs, and discover paths to more vibrant, connected lives ~ while making changes, or being with "what is" with new perspectives.

I founded Cottonwood Assessment Clinic so that I can help clarify's children's needs, struggles, and strengths in order to guide next steps and strategies to help them succeed and grow. To do this, I offer comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessments for children and young adults from age 2 to 19. Testing will identify a youth’s cognitive, learning, and social-emotional strengths and areas of struggle. This information can be used to establish a diagnosis and, more importantly, to guide next steps, strategies and interventions to help youth thrive at home, school, & other important areas of their life.

Thought patterns are established through repetition, and these patterns have a profound impact on important aspects of life. You likely see this play out on a smaller scale in simple, daily routines. What happens when you change your silverware to a new drawer, for example? You return to the old one due to conditioning. You know the old pattern will eventually convert after attentive repetition, and this neuroplasticity is also what allows changes toward better relationships and more important life functions.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Park City. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
