I am passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families coping with anxiety, depression, family of origin trauma, attachment injuries, boundaries and communication patterns.
Life is often unpredictable, complex, and challenging, even more so when you’re carrying your past hurts, present struggles, and your dreams for the future. Work, family, and relationships with others can be pushed to the forefront, but what about your OWN mental and emotional needs? Therapy is a safe space where you get to unpack, and focus on your needs, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It can also be a place where you can explore and gain insight to your own identity, thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they impact your life and relationships.

Everyone’s story is different and yet, we all carry burdens in some capacity that affect us relationally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I work with issues such as depression and anxiety, faith, addiction, relational and attachment, grief and loss, sexuality, and identity. My approach is helping creating a stable and safe foundation through empathy and non judgment, where individuals and couples can feel free to be themselves and can work on the issues keeping them from growing at their own pace.

I work with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety.
The pitfalls of life are inevitable and it can be easy to lose sight of how to cope with them in a way that is good for you. I understand that it can feel impossible to overcome your unique life circumstances. I wholeheartedly believe that no one is broken and change is possible. I see my role as that of a guide, helping you to discover all that is already inside of you. No one knows your story better than you do. I seek to create a safe place, free of judgement, where you can explore at your own pace.

I specialize in eating disorders and body image concerns, but I work with a variety of individuals including those struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, grief, trauma, and life transitions.
*Now accepting new clients* Choosing to work with a counselor is an incredibly courageous thing to do - after all, you are voluntarily choosing to share your life story with essentially a complete stranger. That is not easy! I therefore strive to meet your courage with a safe and encouraging place for you to share struggles, problem-solve, and try out new ways to do life. I work from a relational and trauma-informed lens, but use a varied approach when counseling to explore practices that may work best for you. I consider you to be the expert in your own life, and always want you to feel empowered in the work we do together.

Most of my experience has been working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with Gender Identity/LGBTQ struggles, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and “coming of age”.
I know how hard it can be to find a therapist with who you feel a connection with and I would be honored to work with you through the various stages of your life. As a Lesbian, I can relate to many of the challenges people face when existing in a difficult space. Whatever challenges you are encountering at this moment, there is hope. Things can get better. Things can change. You have more power than you realize. I look forward to working with you as you gain the empowerment, knowledge, and skills required to move through those challenges.

If you are struggling today with stress, depression, anxiety, isolation or related shame, hurts, give me a call today.
You might care for others but leave your needs behind. You are a complex, giving, normal person who in one way or another has taken hits in life. Perhaps traumatic experiences can cast a shadow over your life. I tend to work with those who are objectively quality, imperfect people but feel shame, abnormal guilt or other signals of denigrated self-worth, consciously or unconsciously. I also work on dismantling toxic shame around sexuality or assertiveness. I offer individual therapy, and group counseling. The goal is working things out-- afflictions, addictions, shadow work-- in a confidential, non-judgemental setting.

I love watching my clients overcome life’s challenges by finding inner strength that they never knew they had. My goal is to provide a warm and encouraging environment for you to share your story and to help you find the strength to overcome your struggles. Since we are all unique, I believe that counseling is not a “one size fits all” approach, and I pull from multiple modalities in order to tailor my guidance to fit each client.

Your unresolved life experiences can keep you stuck in a loop and affect how you see yourself, in relationships, and in the world. The impact of sexual abuse, early childhood/parent attachment challenges, and abusive relationships can look like low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, PTSD, difficulty expressing emotions, people-pleasing, or perfectionism to name a few. The right therapy can bring transformation, movement, and healing from the inside out. Therapy is not a bad word. Therapy does not mean you are weak - it means you need a guide to give you the space to heal and help rebuild the view you have of yourself and your world.

I help men and women dealing with, "Now what?" You know, when life doesn't go according to plan, which it rarely does. It often sounds something like this: Now what should I do that I feel anxious or depressed? ...that I can't seem to lose this weight? ...that my situation feels hopeless? ...that my past continues to haunt me? ...that I don't feel good about myself? ...that I (or someone I love) drink(s) too much? ...that I struggle with food? ...that my relationship isn't what I hoped for? Now what should I do that I'm questioning how I've spent my life? In other words, "This isn't how it was supposed to be; this wasn't the plan."

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Richardson. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
