I work primarily with depression, anxiety, young adult concerns, self-esteem, and existential issues.
I am honored by the opportunity to help individuals find greater peace, strength, and fulfillment. Our lives are so busy, there is very little opportunity to stop and discover where support is needed. Taking this time for oneself, whether to reflect on one's relationships, to work through difficult emotions, or to gain awareness as to one's self-perceptions, can be transformative. Because self-compassion is key to healing, I try to template compassion through my own emotional engagement and respect for the client and his/her experience. Videos I made can be found on my website.

My great joy is to facilitate healing in body, mind and spirit. I use a varied approach to suit your needs and circumstances. Difficult life events such as a relationship breakup, divorce, addictions and depression demand learning new coping skills. I enjoy helping clients study their habitual patterns. Through repeated experiences we develop habits, but we don’t have to continue living that way. As we mindfully explore who we are, we give ourselves more freedom of choice about our habitual patterns and who we want to be. I have specialized experience in anxiety, depression, chronic pain, self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, and trauma.

Feeling anxious? Does life seem overwhelming and you have tried seeking answers only to experience frustration? Maybe you're depressed and it's difficult to manage even the smallest details of your day. Many feel discouraged right now as the world recovers from unprecendented trauma brought on by the pandemic. Whatever your unique situation, you've come to a point in which you realize things need to change.

If you're struggling with your self-esteem or depression, identify as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), or are seeking couples counseling we may be a good fit for each other.
One of my earliest experiences in therapy happened shortly after my father died when I was in my early 20s. It was sudden and devastating -- I was so thankful to have a counselor who really got me. And that is my goal now as a therapist. My hope is that you leave my office feeling understood, not judged, and as if you have a partner in your pain.

Depression is often overwhelming. It drains us of our energy, makes the world seem bleak and hopeless, and removes the pleasure, joy, and meaning from life. When we are depressed simple things are difficult, like getting out of bed, going to work, or simply being with others. Depression erodes our self-esteem and we often end up disliking ourselves and others, and we just want to hide away. Often these symptoms of depression cause even more depression – our withdrawal into ourselves leads to performance difficulties at school and work, and it isolates us from the very people we love and who love us.

Struggles and hurts in life such as early life lessons/experiences, fears, social expectations, etc. can lead to avoidance in an understandable effort to protect ourselves. I believe that you made these adaptations for a reason, but that they may no longer be serving you and have resulted in living an unauthentic life that can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, unhappiness, among other problems that may surface. I want to help you restore your natural zest for life, help you reintegrate parts of yourself, and help you achieve more fulfilling interaction with your environment to create a sense of wholeness.

I have extensive experience in grief and loss, chronic illnesses and interpersonal issues as well as working with clients who are struggling with anxiety and depression/mood disorders.
I have a deep desire to help others find happiness and fulfillment in their lives and to overcome personal obstacles. My passion is to walk alongside those who entrust me with their healing journey. The guidance one receives through counseling is about becoming able to heal one’s self. This journey is often difficult and sometimes even painful, but the results are life changing. It is important to me to collaborate with my clients to create an open and safe environment in which to explore and communicate.

We may focus on present day symptoms such as anxiety or depression or work to identify deeper trauma that has created unhelpful ways of responding to life’s challenges.
Do you feel like you swing between constant worry and overthinking to periods of extreme exhaustion, numbness, and shutdown? For many of us, this state of constant survival has become part of our daily lives. For valid reasons, we can become masters at under or over-responding to our body’s distress signals. If you are reading this, you are already becoming aware this is an unsustainable relationship. You know on a deeper level it is time to make changes that lead to a life beyond survival. I help individuals understand the connection between their bodies, emotions, beliefs and how each influence overall wellbeing.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Austin. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
