Do you feel stuck in patterns that you know aren’t working for you anymore, but feel powerless to change them? Have you experienced persistent anxiety or depression for so long it’s starting to feel impossible to find relief? For clients who have trauma histories, sometimes talk therapy isn’t enough to fully heal from the past. Traumatic experiences can get stuck in our nervous system, sending a constant signal to our bodies that we are in danger, even long after the danger has passed. Unfortunately, what we know on a mind level we don’t always feel in our bodies.

I am accepting clients that are wanting to work on: grieving, anxiety, depression, past trauma &/or low-self-esteem.
I find it most beneficial to take a holistic approach when practicing therapy. When approaching my clients, I choose to view each individual as a whole being, including mind, body, and spirit, as all of these moving parts are important in the presence of healing and improving. I gift my clients with a chance to become aware of their emotions, thoughts, physical occurrences, spiritual philosophies, and how all of these aspects can affect one another. Through awareness we gain control, the ability to change and to heal. I am here to support and guide my clients towards revival.

If you're struggling with the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, or family dysfunction, I would love to connect with you.
Reaching out for help can feel overwhelming. After working closely with people in the mental health field for the past 7 years, I've learned that we all need support at times. I enjoy working with people of all ages to identify their triggers, process their trauma, and learn healthy coping skills and boundaries. I also love family work where I can help people navigate challenges and improve their relationships. My favorite clients are the ones that come into counseling with curiosity about their past and and a desire for growth and healing.

Family structure, life circumstances, trauma and grief can challenge the way we think and feel. Our emotions are often triggered by these life circumstances causing negative behavioral responses such as anxiety, angry outbursts, obsessive-compulsive disorders, drug addiction, alcoholism, sexual addiction, gambling, depression, and relationship conflict. The consequences of these behaviors cause heartache and pain in our lives and often have adverse effects on the people around us. Therapy can show you how negative behaviors limit your life and prevent you from living your life to the fullest potential.

Living on our nerves has become a way of life for a lot of us. Trauma can cause us to walk around in a state of anxiousness, weariness, or hyperactivity. Fear and anxiety can be debilitating, exhausting, and short-circuit our ability to problem solve. When that happens, we can become frustrated that our old coping skills are no longer helping us. Let's sit down together if you need a safe place to work out some old issues – or deal with new ones. I use CBT, DBT, EMDR, and family systems therapy. I can help clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, and conflicted marital relationships. Give me a call.

I acknowledge and respect the effort it takes to reach out for help. The strength it takes to say "enough!, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired". The courage it takes to choose towards something more, something better, than where you are at right now. Thank you for being here! What if every wrongness was a strength not yet acknowledged? You are stronger than you think and worth so much more than you can imagine. The fact that you are reading this right now is proof of that!

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, trauma, body positivity, self-esteem, and boundary-setting.
Therapy is vital to both healing and growing. Our healing and growth must involve challenging the parts of our brains that operate from places of pain and this is impacting our day to day functioning. I understand the importance of having the opportunity to share experiences with those who can hold space for us. In my practice, I strive to create a comfortable, welcoming environment for all clients.

You may be struggling with a life transition, anxiety, depression, fears, or a trauma history that keeps resurfacing. You deserve a break. You deserve to be free and "un-stuck". It's time for you to take some time for yourself, make some changes, move forward, and live up to your potential. I am interested in your goals, where you are now, and how to help you get where you'd like to go.

My focus is working with women dealing with issues such as self-worth, anxiety, depression, life transitions, codependency, boundaries, grief, and more.
None of us are immune to hardships and trials in this life, but we don't have to walk through them alone. It's helpful to find a safe space and someone to walk alongside for support and guidance as we navigate the way through the present and the past. In my own journey I've been so blessed by others who have been that for me, and I am grateful for every opportunity I'm allowed to comfort others in the ways I've been comforted. How do we learn and grow through the pain, discover more of who God has made us to be, and trust Him as He works it all together for good?

Depression Therapists

What is the goal of therapy for depression?

Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognize and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?

Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?

Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioral activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?

Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?

Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
