I specialize in working with individuals managing depression, anxiety, and those seeking to change unhealthy patterns.
In these hectic times, we sometimes find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from loved ones, or "stuck" and unsure about where we are headed. Some of us even struggle with past trauma that continues to define our present. As a therapist my responsibility is to provide a safe and supportive environment promoting awareness, cultivating strengths, and encouraging lasting change. My clients would describe me as warm, genuine, non-judgmental, open, and motivating. My style draws upon an experience range including solution-focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

I am passionate about helping individuals who struggle with self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. In particular, I enjoy working with adolescents, teens, and young adults, although I see clients of all ages. My goal as your therapist is to help you let go of the parts of yourself that no longer support your best interests and goals. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the catalyst for client growth and that humor is an effective therapeutic modality that can optimize recovery and facilitate client empowerment.

Being a teenager or young adult is tough enough, you’re going through massive life transitions while simultaneously figuring out who you are as a person. Countless young people have told me they feel like their trauma is their fault, that they feel guilty or shameful of having been victimized. If you're experiencing anger, shame, fear, guilt, anxiety, or depression related to an experience out of your control, we can work together to put you back in control of your life. Familial conflict or transitions interfering with your relationship with your teen? Lets work together to figure out how to meet everyone's needs and meet balance.

I treat issues that include eating disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and anger issues.
**Currently my practice is full and I am not able to see new clients at this time. Thank you for your interest. ** Often people begin counseling to change something and feel better. Working together at your pace, I focus on what may be getting in the way today and work with you to find ways of dealing with life on a day-to-day basis more resourcefully. If it is relevant we'll also look at the past to work out how your history might be part of what is going on today. As each person has a unique set of problems and their own way of reacting to them, my approach is individualized.

Congratulations for reaching out for support and taking the first step towards the life that you want to create. The world that we live in can be challenging, and sometimes we need help beyond our families and social circles. I use a strengths-based approach to work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and eating disordered behaviors. I believe in the use of mindfulness practices to strengthen the mind-body connection and believe that self care is the basis for being able to support ourselves and ultimately being able to share our lives with others.

I work with individuals, ages 18 and up, to address a variety of concerns, including (but not limited to) Depression, Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Post-Traumatic Stress. My background is in Depth Psychology, which means that in addition to helping clients contain symptoms, I help them to explore what is behind those symptoms. As uncomfortable as some emotional experiences can be, what we call "symptoms" often contain valuable information about what we want and need and the state of our-selves.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Maine. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
