I work with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and other life adjustments in which they need additional support.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience providing mental health treatment. During my graduate internship, I worked at a rape crisis center and was privileged to witness the resiliency and strength of those who have experienced significant traumas in their life. After receiving my master’s degree from Western Illinois University, I worked for 9 years at the local rape crisis center, which offered me valuable training in trauma and opportunities to grow in my clinical work.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, substance abuse, addictions, psychosis, ADHD, PTSD, conduct disorders, incarcerated individuals, families, couples, LGBTQ+, and more.
I believe in a person centered and narrative approach, as you are the expert of your own life. You have your own story to tell. Talking to a stranger about issues you’re facing can be extremely difficult and challenging but it shows enormous amounts of strength and bravery. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can express yourself, discuss challenges that you are facing, explore new ideas and new chapters, and to help promote growth and wellness. I want my clients to feel heard and understood.

It seems like everyone else’s child has it all together and you feel scared and alone. It feels like the situation is never going to get better and you worry constantly about the future of your child. You never thought you would be in this place and you can’t seem to find your way out. All you want to do is help your child. As a parent, one of the most difficult tasks we face is to watch our children and teens struggle. Parenting an adolescent who is struggling with anxiety, depression or behavior can you leave feeling like you failed.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Champaign. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
