I use a warm, integrative approach to help change behaviors and identify patterns that prevent clients from living the way they want. We might start by targeting your day-to-day challenges, exploring the relationship between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to open a path to change. The next step is often to work backwards, seeking insight and acceptance of past experiences that can impact our adult lives in ways we do not recognize. My clients struggle with a wide range of issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and self-criticism, perfectionism, issues with food and body image, and unsatisfying relationships.

I provide psychotherapy to adults and adolescents addressing a broad range of concerns, including depression and anxiety; relationship issues; identity concerns; family issues; and life transitions.
We all experience challenging times when we don’t feel like ourselves. We may feel stuck, lost, or experience the same unsatisfying relationships. Engaging in therapy, with the right therapist, can help. Within a supportive and collaborative relationship, I actively work with my clients to better understand themselves and their relationships; to acquire healthy coping strategies; and to achieve an enhanced sense of well-being. I am flexible, tailoring the therapy according to the needs of each client. I bring an integrative approach to psychotherapy that includes insight-oriented work, practical interventions, and cognitive/behavioral techniques, all within a nurturing relationship.

Depression, anxiety and the impact of trauma can all mask aspects of a person's identity and a sense of being a whole person.
I am a gay psychotherapist, and enjoy and have had success working with both LGBTq and heterosexual adult clients. A warm and supportive environment allows for the gradual development of a professional relationship between client and therapist that can provide an important basis for their work together. Individuals often come into my practice dealing with feelings of depression and anxiety, as well as the impact of trauma, that affect both their ability to have a positive self-image and sense of identity, and to move ahead in their life. I support a client around reducing these blocks in their life.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Washington. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
