For many people, a symptom is initially what brings them into therapy: relationship stress, anxiety, depression, perhaps an addiction. This symptom lets one know that life in its current arrangement is not working. For any number of reasons - trauma, loss - one's true nature has been diminished, co-opted, denied. It can give one a sense of feeling unrelated to one's life.
Jungian psychology and its emphasis on the individuating self informs my practice. Rather than pathologizing symptoms, I work with clients to bring meaning to their experiences and what is being carried by the body and conveyed by one's unconscious. It is this meaning that facilitates healing.
Through the use of dreams, images, and myth, I assist clients as they open to a more meaningful experience of themselves and the world.
