I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 8 years of experience in mental health, working with children, adolescents and adults. I value the story because I believe that stories hold power. It is my job to help my clients find their unique story and the strengths that reside between the lines. Telling a story requires safety as stories sometimes hold the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore those vulnerabilities as they process past trauma as well as current stressors that lead to depression and anxiety.

Therapy is used to address stress, depression, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, etc.
Just as you visit physicians for preventive care, you can meet with a psychologist to address issues before they become problematic. This proactive approach encourages the development of psychological health. People are in good psychological health when they make good decisions, manage stress well, communicate effectively, have healthy relationships, and take good care of themselves emotionally and physically. Let me work with you to establish and maintain your optimal psychological health. We can do that through the use of therapy and/or psychological testing, as I specialize in both forms of treatment.

I work with clients who struggle with depression/anxiety, betrayal, relationship/attachment, addiction, grief, trauma and behavioral issues.
Brene Brown, a favorite author of mine, states that "Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we will ever do.". I believe that we are all living out of our perspective of our story and with each new day comes the opportunity to understand and develop that story more. As a trauma-focused narrative therapist who deeply understands the need for attachment with ourselves and others, I consider it an honor to walk alongside my clients and help them gain insight into their stories. I work with adults, children, teens and families to help them with a variety of issues based on trust and connection.

Some of the most significant, life changing moments are jumpstarted in the course of a conversation. Feeling heard and felt opens the door to possibilities. The possibility of healing, more freedom, a deeper sense of peace, feeling more grounded and safe can encourage a person to make the changes that they want to make. This has been Jamie’s experience in her own life as well as through the training she received and the counseling she has done thus far. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relational conflict, thoughts of wanting to die, or feeling worthless; I'd like to help.

I treat depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm/suicidal thoughts and relationship concerns.
It takes a tremendous amount of courage to reach out for help. Many of us have learned that asking for help isn't safe yet reality tells us that genuine connection to others is as important as the oxygen you breathe. The truth is that you don't have to work through your painful losses, fears or heartaches alone. Everything that you experience has its reasons for existing and the good news is that your mind has a limitless capacity to learn, grow and heal. You deserve to make sense of your challenges even if the process is difficult. I can help guide you on your path to healing and understanding.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in Mesa. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
